Family founded. Family run. Authentic. Delicious.
Seriously. This is a bay area institution and if you enjoy a home cooked Mexican food meal, then you need to try Los Compadres.
The hot sauce is so flavorful and good to use in home cooking, the food will fill you up, the service is friendly and usually just waiting to tell family stories from yesteryear....come for the flavor, stay for everything else.

Los Compadres has the best Mexican food. My family and I eat here once a week. I recommend it.

Food was dry. Claims to have the best huevos rancheros but they were not that good. Pricing on menus are completely different than what we were charged. The prices of each meal were 5 dollars more than what the menu had said and there was no verbal warning. I suggest going else where

Love this place. Great food. Home made chips and salsa are the best a must try.

Haven't been here in 30 years, and the restaurant still served it's meals on large oval platters. I had the deluxe tostada. It comes w beans rice. Corn chips. Still serving traditional plates of Mexican food. This is a stick-to-your-ribs type of comida. It you are craving low-carb tortillas or fat-free alternatives, you best try somewhere else.

Sorry i dived right in, and forgot the takes pics until I was done.

Also great big tables for big groups.

I went into Los Compadres for the first time in ~10 years yesterday. I used to go all the time growing up, but I moved. The food tastes *exactly* like I remember. The building is simple, clean, and the tables are embossed with beautiful tile.Food was great and well prepared. The same owner I remember from childhood is still working. Definitely go here if you're in Hayward and want Mexican food.

This place is amazing and has a rich history. The food is incredible, and Ignacio, our host, was fantastic. When it comes to Mexican cuisine, it can be challenging to find authentic flavors and quality ingredients, but this place nails it. Their carnitas are delicious, and their secret salsa is smoky and flavorful. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience, this is the place to go. We enjoyed a la carte nopales and carnitas with a traditional Mexican coke. I forgot to take a picture, but trust me the presentation was great, and their prices are a bargain for the area and the quality of their food and service.
