We have eaten here a few times over the past several months. Each time I ordered the salmon with potatoes and each time it was overwhelmed with lemon. So much so, it was difficult to eat. Lemon, of course, makes it taste salty. The waiter is very efficient, but surly at best. When one of our party mentioned a dish she saw on their website, he rudely commented 'where did you ever see that??!' and rolled his eyes. Apparently they don't keep their site up to date. Not once did he ask us how our meal was or if he could help with anything - once he poured more water. I am having second thoughts on returning. This could be such a gem, located in Hayward in a Victorian.
We thought we overheard the server say that they were closing sometime in October or November. I'm not 100% sure if that's accurate or not. In either case, there are reviews on Yelp that speak to the server's overall demeanor or attitude. I would agree that he seemed nonchalant and not once did he come by and ask if we needed anything. He did come by to specifically ask if I wanted a refill though. Point being is that he's a one man show doing everything for every table, but not with the most common customer service approach. This one guy is seating, taking orders, providing bread and oil, serving water/drinks, serving the meals, providing and ringing up the check and I think he's even bussing the tables and providing to go boxes. A tall order considering he's covering every single table. In this day and age where everyone is at each other, I tried to feel compassion for the guy because you don't know what he's going through in life. The restaurant closing can't be for a good reason unless it's pure retirement. The food was surprisingly decent and ample in quantity. We ordered the filet mignon and the lamb. The filet was a bit overcooked for medium rare. It was medium well and pretty tough. But everything else was flavorful, including all the sides (potatoes, vegetables, etc.) We chose this place because it was close to home. I'm not in a rush to go back, but all in all, I think it was a decent value.
The food and atmosphere were excellent. The waiter was quite possibly the rudest human being I have ever encountered.

Food was great but server was not friendly at all. I'm a people watcher and I notice that some patrons look like they were regulars and he was more friendly with them. They came there after us and they got their food before us we were there for almost 3 hours. If you like great food but crappy service then that place is for you. LoL. I was appalled knowing that the 20% tip was $65 he so didn't deserve it. We spent $350 for 6 people.

This small and intimate restaurant is a gem in Downtown Hayward. Great food and wine list!
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. A real gem tucked away in Hayward.

I love to travel, and one of my absolute favorite things to do is explore new restaurants. After two days of thoughtful consideration, I finally picked a steakhouse to try, and let me tell you, it was hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had in the country! It was perfectly seasoned and cooked just the way I like it. The atmosphere felt like a warm visit to my uncle's house—so cozy yet elegant. The artwork added a delightful touch, enhancing the entire ambiance. It was truly a memorable experience!

Just a wonderful place for dinner. Delicious food and a quiet beautiful dining room. We can't wait to go back!
This is a wonderful gem hidden in downtown Hayward. It's become one of our favorite places to celebrate. Fancy, yet not ostentatious. Food is always ver my good. Service was prompt and professional, though not overflowing with joy (hey, we all have those nights). Only thing I'd suggest testing is a new more interesting bread choice.

We have been going to Neumanali since it first opened and have always been impressed with its food and service. Of particular note is the outstanding wine list and overall ambiance of the establishment. It's one of our favorite places and we highly recommend it to our friends.

Great food and atmosphere. I ordered the ribeye, and it was huge. Usually, ordering a steak comes disappointedly tiny, but the steak was generously sized and delicious. We most definitely will be back!
A great Hayward gem. Delicious food and great ambience.
Such a charming restaurant!! Very romantic. It is a one man team doing all the seating, greeting and serving. The food is good but not great. But the value is truly there.
