Hayward has always been a pass through town for me, that is until Brosco Bill and his little stab Coco de Avantè told me about Pick-A-Deli.
They claimed it's the best deli in the bay area! Well....That's a pretty tall statement, so I left my little hamlet of Napa and made the trek to Hayward to see for myself. In a desert wasteland of business parks and manufacturing, this is an oasis. Is everything perfect? No. But they make the sandwiches quick, they aren't expensive (its 2024 people, you aren't getting a sandwich for $5...), and the couple times I've been, it was fresh and as described.

With appropriate expectations, this fits the bill for a quick, easy, basic lunch option.

Vegetarian options: There are some veggie sandwiches...

Great lunch spot! Carefully tell them your order or it’ll be wrong. Couldn’t eat my lunch twice now, got back to the office and it was made wrong. Also I get the exact same thing every time and it’s always a diff price($1-3)
