My wife and I wanted to try Gurkha for a bit now. The afternoon we went, there was a protest at City hall. We found parking and walked over. The kids from Hayward High and Bret Hart was protesting ICE. The place was cozy, we sat in the back room as it was pretty busy for lunch. The staff was attentive, we ordered off menu. We had Thakali Thali veg, Chicken Momo, Chicken Tikka Kaba, Roti & Garlic naan. It was all wonderful, the complimentary chai was nice. There's a patio so we will return with our doggy.

Second visit to Gurkha Kitchen and we really enjoyed the buffet. Good variety, flavorful dishes, and friendly service. Easy place to come back to.

We found this place online while waiting for our trailer to get loaded. SUMITRA has great customer service and a beautiful smile while greeting us and continued to check on us. The food was the best buffet ever and I left very full.

Amazing food, clean atmosphere and very good service. Just love it. My favorites are the veg chow main and chicken momos. Their dhal is very good too.

I ordered jhol momo and regular , chicken chowmein, and chicken fried rice.
They forgot to include the jhol achar. The momo were overcooked and completely stuck together. When I tried to separate them, the outer covering broke and the chicken filling came out.
The chicken chowmein was very tasteless and didn’t even seem properly fried. The chicken fried rice was just so-so.
I usually go to the San Ramon Gorkha Kitchen, where the food is always excellent—everything you try there is satisfying. Unfortunately, my experience at the Hayward location has been consistently disappointing. This is the third time I’ve tried this location, and each time I’ve had the same issues.
Very disappointed.

If you will keep continuing adding water to old food and then warming it up, one day your business will be drown.
I order regularly but lately its been hit or miss, I order the same thing every time and its amazing (out of this world) sometimes when its fresh and trash when its old, understand the difference, please please please work on it.
Don't be like just another pathetic Nepali restaurant, there are already plenty of them in the bay area please don't join them… you guys were amazing before.
Simple common thing: Cook fresh everyday, put more stuff in a plate, make a lot of money..
In hindi: Maal daalo maal kamao.. understand this if you wanna go above average, if not another day another restaurant for me and another day another customer for you.. life goes on

Overall, food was okay. Not very much portion and lamb was a bit overcooked while the goat was mainly bones. The naan was the best part of the meal.

Chowmein was particularly very nice, reminded me of street style ones in Delhi. Chilli paneer was fine. Chai was free, hot but okay. Will return to try the buffet or when craving good chowmein in Hayward.

Absolutely loved this Nepalese restaurant! The momos are a must-try—fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor. The non-vegetarian thali is hands-down one of the best, with a perfect balance of spices, variety, and generous portions. The buffet is ultimate, offering an excellent spread with authentic flavors and great value for money. What truly sets this place apart is the service—it feels like a family member taking care of you, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A wonderful dining experience and highly recommended!
