This is normally a great place for my hubs and I to stop in for a bite, but today I was thoroughly turned off. Upon entrance my husband was holding his fresh ice cold venti Starbucks that we had just picked up because we are tired from an international vacation; all of the sudden we were greeted by the hostess who tells us that we can't bring the coffee in like we're some middle school children entering class after lunchtime. My husband and I actually looked at each other contemplating if we were going to leave or not. It was the most ridiculous and greedy request I have heard in quite a while. I was TOTALLY turned off. We frequent here all of the time and we were clearly patronizing the establishment to spend money, but in return, for the restaurant to demand that my husband leave his coffee outside to melt and be non drinkable upon our return to the car is rude and discourteous. Number one, people have all types of dietary restrictions and needs. Secondly, we are responsible adults and know our needs. Lastly, they don't even sell coffee, so how absurd is this? It actually feels like a scarcity and poverty-like mindset to do that. If I'm clearly entering an establishment to spend my money, one would run the risk that I leave because they are trying to squeeze an extra $3.00-5.00 out of me, instead of me, as a patron being comfortable and joyous?Outrageous. I'm not even enjoying my experience right now because I'm typing this Yelp review and feel highly annoyed by that lack of gracious and courteous entrance. It felt rude and quasi ridiculous to experience this. This policy needs to be revoked immediately. It's ludicrous! I can see if someone is bringing in alcohol or food, but coffee? Give me a break. We have frequented here many times, and I have introduced several people to this restaurant and because of this experience, I have an extreme sour taste. Hopefully they do away with the policy. I'll be talking about this all week. Annoying.

This has been my first visit in this restaurant I love Mexican food and Mexican people This place has the best food Appetizers salsa, chips, Khanh nice and warm. I've never had this. Tasty burrito was great. My wife had enchiladas. There's a lot of meat inside. It's not just bread. But more the waitress was a sweetheart

Unfortunately today is the last day i will be going to the Mexican....$6.00 for chips and salsa which should always be complementary, no thanks... the menu is ridiculously expensive now.. $14.00 for my kids menu Quesadilla/fries...$22.00 for the Mexican sampler, $16.00 for the nachos...i can go on and on but i won't... and sorry Maria, you're responses are terrible and you can't offer no good answer... If you're reading this go to El Portal on Lewelling. Nothing good to say about the Mexican anymore.. very disappointed

I placed an order to go, going off the menu on their website. After receiving the order and making it home, I saw that the order was missing some items. I ordered off the entree menu which was supposed to include rice and beans, but I only got 6 pieces of shrimp. I called and asked them why I was missing some food and the lady over the phone said that "the menu was updated and the item you ordered is now an appetizer. It doesn't come with rice and beans. "So I paid $80 for 3 orders of six shrimp? Unbelievable! Very disappointed

What a good restaurant. Very nice eating area, great food, and excellent service! I absolutely loved our server, Cynthia. She’s incredible. So sweet but also gets the job done. We came on taco Tuesday so it was a great deal too! Thanks for a good night and great food. Maybe don’t come with a large group because they have a sign at the front making it clear they don’t like big groups. Signs say a lot.

Now, it's a great place! The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is lively with the music turned up loud. A perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal with some great tunes. Highly recommend!
This place has great quality food. The staff is always professional and on their game 95% of the time, every once in a while they might forget to provide silverware and napkins but is that anything to get twisted about? Not in my book. I was also not a fan of the fact that they stopped providing free chips and salsa. I also was not a fan of the fact that for a single person sitting at the bar, they gave me a large basket of chips and I only ate a 3rd of them so the rest would go in the trash. If you think of this and imagine the amount of chips and salsa that go in the trash on a daily basis, you'd probably stop providing this as well. I originally was not happy with this but it is understandable from a business perspective. Especially when the cost of everything has doubled in the last year. This is why I am not sweating the small stuff and I am seeing the bigger picture. So, if you have not been here, give this great restaurant a try. Oh and if you really want the chips and salsa, you can order it for a price. I choose to forego the chis and get down with a great Chili Verde Green Burrito and one of the many craft beers on tap. Enjoy.

Food quality went down, prices skyrocketed. No more free chips and salsa? Every other Mexican spot still gives it out free so no reason to go here anymore. Lost a loyal customer and I'm certain I'm not the only one! Bring back free chips and salsa and I'd reconsider.

Our party of 11 left feeling let down as the restaurant had discontinued its tradition of offering complimentary chips and salsa. A visit to a Mexican eatery is usually accompanied by the anticipation of enjoying these staples. Given the already hefty prices, this omission was particularly disappointing. Consequently, we're awarding this establishment three stars. Despite this setback, the food itself was satisfactory.

Sorry to say we won't be returning. I've had many visits with colleagues for lunches with 15+ people. Food and drinks were usually great even though the service and food have been hit or miss. Once they stopped serving chips and salsa as traditionally done in all Mexican restaurants and put a charge on them instead, is when I started to feel underwhelmed. The one time I decided to pay the $6 for the chips & salsa they came in small bowl with a small amount of salsa and bean dip served on a board which was a lovely presentation that looked worth the cost of $6 but the chips tasted stale and not worth it! Definitely would not recommend this place! The overall increased prices of food doesn't match what you get nor the service you will receive. Everything was over salted. Drinks were over iced and shots not filled to proper level in shot glass. There are better places to get good authentic Mexican food for less money and better service, plus free chips and salsa! Sad but I can no longer recommend this place. You will be very disappointed in the amount of money you spend here for what you get and don't get!
