Nothing like a pretzel and beer pairing. Loved the chicken sandwich and smash burger.

A Surprisingly Delicious Find at The Wurst Restaurant!

My cousin was visiting from the East Coast, so we decided to drive north and catch up for a few hours. Once we arrived at Healdsburg, however, rain began to fall.

With limited options due to the weather and time of day, The Wurst Restaurant caught our eye as the closest appealing choice. The rain and the hour had subdued the atmosphere, leaving only two occupied. A few young people were working at the counter and attending the tables. My cousin, a trained culinary expert, always takes the lead on ordering, and I am always happy with the outcome. The young man serving us was glad to answer his questions.

My cousin ordered us a couple of beers and two of their Signature Sausages (though the specific varieties escape me!). We split them in half, exchanging a piece of each to enjoy both flavors. The sausages were delicious, perfectly complemented by the beers we chose. We both wholeheartedly agreed it was a good choice. Just writing about it makes my mouth water -how good they were!

My curiosity about the restaurant's origins was piqued, so I did some online research and found an interesting article from the Chronicle dating back to 2011. Founded by Charles Bell, the restaurant had an unexpected backstory. Originally from Michigan, Bell had been the bass player for a rock band called MC5 before relocating to Healdsburg twelve years prior. He initially pursued a career in finance, but a cancer diagnosis prompted him to follow his true passion, leading to the birth of The Wurst.

The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance, the beer is refreshingly cold, and the sausages are delicious. If you find yourself in Healdsburg, give The Wurst Restaurant a try!

Best place in Healdsburg to eat lunch without the Healdsburg "premium". It's where the Riff-raff eat, but in a good way.

Come for the bratwurst, stay for the excessive sausage-themed puns on the walls en route to the bathroom!

Beware! Prices on the Google menu are about 20% lower than the actual prices. Meal for two + tip is about $60

Burger was soggy, fries soggy, dog bun was stale. Unfortunate experience

If you like hot dogs, this is your place. The finish their dogs with celery seeds that add a certain unique flavor. Not much seating though

Charming informal restaurant in downtown Healdsburg. The menu is comprised of mostly bratwurst and other sausages that they fly-in from Wisconsin. Plenty of beers on tap to choose from to wash down the sausages. Great indoor/outdoor space to hang out with friends!
