Had brunch there and it was delicious! Bloody Mary's with fresh made tomato juice. An experience I had never had before. Delicious with their infamous bacon, pickled shallot and olive garnish. Didn't think it could get any better until my arugula, asparagus, feta salad arrived with an egg on top. Absolutely delicious! Great experience.

In the past Zazu has served the very best BLT sandwiches here that I ever had. So, I was disappointed when it did not return. However, I learned last week that they are back for a short while.... Serving their famous sandwiches until "the tomatoes run out". Along with their infamous bacon inside a pumpkin seed crust light sourdough toasted bread. If you like a good one, don't walk.....run as fast as you can. They are only $12, and it will fill you up. Heck a fast food meal is becoming a $10 bill. So, this is a great deal.....The tomatoes from mid August to early October are the best flavor. Cannot wait to get back.

We just had a REALLY GREAT lunch at Zazu on The River in Healdsburg, located at Davis Family Winery. Set in a delightful organic garden right on The Russian River. We had the Black Pig Bacon and Heirloom tomato BLT and it was absolutely AMAZING! I love BLT's and this was by far the best one I've ever had. We also tried the peach pie and it was out of this world, melt in your mouth delicious! You have to go here!!!

Every so many months I visit the Healdsburg area of Sonoma County from Iowa (the pork capital of the world) and I get a bunch of my good girlfriends (winemakers and wine industry folk) and we invade on a little tour I call #GirlsGoneWine. We did this again in July and the thing I really wanted to do was visit this little "Pork Shack" in the parking lot near Davis Family Vineyards (one of my favorite wineries)., So we descended upon this place and had a late lunch on a lazy afternoon. Most of my party ordered the BLT which looked amazing and from the sounds of it absolutely was amazing. I opted for the Rapini Sandwich and WOW!! It was a grilled sandwich on peasant bread with cheese and sauteed Rapini and it was to die for! I looked over and one of my girlfriends was eating a caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes that were just huge,. If I hadn't been so full from my sandwich, I would've ordered a salad too! I love how they offer wines by the glass by Davis Family Vineyards in their monogram winery glasses. So chic! I enjoyed a glass of their Pinot Noir Rose' with my sandwich. I want to go back and try some more! Anything with bacon! They even have popcorn with bacon! Zazu On The River! You rock!! (Don't forget to stop at the cash machine, They don't take credit cards!)

Now co-located with Davis Family Vineyards on Front St. Billed as Sonoma County's first "Pork Shack" by none other than the "King and Queen of Pork" John Stewart & Duskie Estes "Zazu On The River" offers the same friendly service and awesome foods. The definition of "farm to table". Some of the produce is grown right next to the "shack". When I requested cucumber instead of tomatoes on by BLT, they went out and picked one right on the spot. The location offers outside seating right next to the Russian River. Walked into the Davis Family Vineyards tasting room before ordering and asked "So, what goes good with bacon?" (The answer is ANYTHING goes good with Black Pig Bacon) OPEN FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY 11:30AM - 6:00PM
