Recommend the california burrito and orange bang. The california burrito was solid. I also called for a 16 oz orange bang and got complimentarily upgraded to 32 oz and got some tortilla chips for free. Only thing is when ordering through a call, you should state how much salsa you want - I got one (which is a bigger container than the ordinary small container) but recommend two. This was partly mb

The service was great, very friendly. Clean and nice place. The food was a little underwhelming, though. Under seasoned, got chicken tacos and it was basically a solid chicken breast in a taco. Just interesting vs other Mexican places.

They got my order wrong. 3 items were missing. I received chicken soup, carne asada taco and a potato taco. Carne asada was tough and chewy. Soup don't have any corn and had cubes of white meat. Some may like this but I was looking forward to more authentic version. Potato taco was good.

El Tarasco in Hermosa has a great location on upper Pier Avenue, very convenient to either drive, bike or walk to. It's never too busy, so you should be able to get a table right away - either inside or outside (much nicer). The service has been great every time. The food is ok - I used to really get midnight cravings for El Tarasco, but lately not so much. Good for takeout. Also, last time I checked they don't have a liquor license so the margaritas are made from "alternative" alcohol - blah.

Very nice location. I love their chips and dip. We ordered beef quesadilla, chile relleno, and a couple other appetizers. Food was ok, but not great

I had an extremely frustrating experience at El Tarasco. The waitress was rude, and for the second time in a row, our order was incorrect. Despite ordering over the phone to avoid discrepancies, they added items we didn't order. When I called to address the issues, the staff was unresponsive and unhelpful. The person / woman on the phone disregarded my concerns, indicating it wasn't her problem. As I got more assertive (not raising my voice), she claimed I was talking to her firmly and abruptly hung up on me. This lack of customer service and refusal to address the issue. When we showed up to the restaurant because she refused to answer the phone and to talk to us. We felt that we had to physically go to the restaurant to resolve the matter. When she saw us with a bag, she immediately addressed us and suggested we return the next day, because the manager was not there, and she cannot do a refund. Posing a challenge as we had ordered perishable items that evening. It was only when we insisted on speaking to the manager immediately, and with the presence of a police officer who was there to order food, that she felt compelled to contact the manager. This eventually led to a refund, but even while we were physically present at the restaurant, the owner apparently told the waitress, "that we take our business elsewhere". The inconvenience and resistance to resolve the issue were highly frustrating.

Average food. Usually the staff is very friendly, but not today. The girl forgot my soup, then found it on another ticket. Had to ring me up twice. Also forgot my drink. She said 15 minutes it was more like 25. No apologies or anything.

Trash. Don't waste your health or money. Guisados is right down the street. Much friendlier staff and better tasting food at guisados

The burritos are huge and come out so fast. The red sauce on the burritos is really really good

I’m a hermosa beach local and go to El-Tarasco often. This branch however is closest to my house and I’m is always served from the same waitress (I won’t state her name here to be nice). Today we couldn’t get much service because she was having a family event at the front of the restaurant. Always terrible service, but today was cherry on top. She did not give me and my husband water the whole time I had my meal. My husband had to go in twice to ask for water and still no service. She gave her other tables water immediately when they sat down without an ask all smiley and giggly. We will never go to this branch ever, the service to even get my check was a hassle. We could’ve walked out and still no service, terrible terrible service. On top of that the food tasted like dry biscuits because my neck was trying hard to not chock on my food.

The portion size has decreased significantly and the prices have continued to go up. For instance a meal no longer comes with 2x tortillas and a small side of rice is $4.50 - the kids meals do not come with sides, the $4.50 side of rice was for our 9 year old because the quesadillas alone would not fill up any 9 year old. This is a recent change in lower food volume, and at $20 for a meal it is not worth it. We won’t be going back, which is too bad, I’ve been enjoying El Tarasco since the early 2000’s.
