These wines are delicious and well priced. The San Martin Tasting Room has a cool industrial vibe.

Ahh yes! The legendary DeRose Winery...

It's all about the Cab Franc! I'd say the Cab Franc is what they are known for... and for good reason. The Cab Franc is one of the best I had! The only other local domestic rival I know off that is near as good hails from 3 Steves Winery in Livermore, and they get the grapes form DeRose! So do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of the Cab Franc. You won't regret it.

The Cab Franc is a 100% Cabernet Franc, not blended. The Vines are pruned in the winter, the Grapes are exposed to sunlight with careful leaf removal and the Clusters are thinned after veraison. Common tasting notes are Berries , dark Stone Fruit, a dash of pepper a subtle hint of roses. Can you tell I'm a fan?

The vineyard is located on both sides of the San Andreas Fault and wines are part of the old Vaché planting method. DeRose wines are also organically farmed, just not not certified. Oh, can't forget the dry farming as well. The Winery is in the middle of nowhere... It's a journey onto itself to get here. There isn't much else around. There is another winery down the road, but that's about it. Don't be scared to make the trip.

DeRose recently opened a Tasting room in San Martin. Can't wait to stop by and check it out.

Wine is great and Luke took great care of us, but if you go definitely ask to meet Luna and Murray they are the show stealers.

Top winery in the South Bay; incredible wines (local, old vines and imported grapes - the Cab Franc & Negrette = WOW), lovely, hospitable family-run, welcoming atmosphere, it’s a hidden gem!! So glad they opened a tasting room closer to Morgan Hill.

Had a nice visit today and enjoyed my testing in the sunny garden area. Tried a few wines and now I'm a converted chardonnay drinker and grabbed a very good Zin to go too. Alphonse the owner is very knowledgeable and provided great service.

Don't let the entry fool you - they have a beautiful patio area around the side and delicious wines.

Dropped by for a quick visit. Super friendly guys work here. They explained their product well which helped lead me to an easy decision. I left with a bottle of Continental Cabernet which I will be pleased to share with some dear friends back in San Diego.Really, really cool looking early 1970s Ford Ranger out front.

One of my favorite places if we are in the Hollister area. Lovely reds priced from reasonable to oh-no-you-shouldn't! Tasting is currently outdoors, across a little foot bridge, to a shady area with tables and comfy chairs. This time I bought the oh-no bottle. I'm worth it.
