From one restaurant owner to another, this place was outstanding!!! Food was absolutely delicious, service was outstanding, restaurant was clean and so cute and the view was gorgeous! Do yourself a favor, take a walk down the pier and stop in for the best meal. You will not be disappointed.

I was in the mood for a good cheeseburger. I went here not knowing what to expect. When I walked in I was immediately struck by the great atmosphere in the restaurant. It’s got a very chill, beach bum type of vibe. Very cool. Ordered my food, and when my food came I was immediately impressed by how great it looked. But let my tell you, it tasted even better. My wife does NOT like tarter sauce and Bud & Gene’s tarter sauce knocked her socks off, it had to be house-made! They have a very good house-made ranch that tastes very dilly. Which I thought was great. The fries though… they were perfectly cooked: crispy on the outside soft on the inside. I can comfortably call them the best fries I’ve ever tasted! The burger was juicy, with a crispy, lightly charred exterior. The bun was great. I had a bite of my wife’s fish and chips and the fish does not taste like frozen fish that’s been fried, it tasted like real, and fresh fish. Best food I’ve had in a while! Not to mention ocean views and a clean environment, and friendly staff. I highly recommend this spot.

You can't beat the location. We loved eating on the pier. We got the whole fish for two which was good. Perfect for two people if you want to leave a little room for dessert. A little spicy so if you don't like that let them know. Have to pay for parking on the beach. But we found a parking structure a block from the pier in which the first 90 minutes are free.

I grew up in the area and went to Ruby's a lot before it got closed. Now I'm married and brought my wife to check out the former Ruby's now Bud & Gene. We went all outof the way to get here..... Closed. Come on. There was a sign on the window that said "Open today at Noon", lies. It's fine, I just won't be back in forever and I guess we'll try again. 1 star review for now

Great casual place to relax and watch the sun go down over the ocean. My friend and I split the Grilled Baja Style Whole Fish for 2 ($36), which came on a platter with guacamole, pickled onions, cabbage with Serrano chiles, and corn tortillas. It's basically a build your own fish taco platter. It was fun and delicious. We had to push aside some of the super hot Serrano chiles, which we picked out of the cabbage, because it was catching our mouth on fire, lol. The fish was de-boned, so it was easy to fork chunks of the light white fish into the tortilla. The servers were friendly and attentive. Once we ordered at the cashier, they brought our fish to our table quickly (within minutes) Their passion fruit ice tea was really good too. The view was to die for. There was a surfing championship going on at the beach, but we got a table no problem at 4:30 pm on a Sunday with no reservations. Looks like they are renovating the upstairs where the bathrooms are. That area previously had a tiki decor, with padded booths. I imagine they are switching to a light, clean, California Beach look like the downstairs. Great place, I will definitely be back. I look forward to eating upstairs when that floor is done.

Kid-friendliness: There were a couple families there with kids. The picnic tables are pretty kid friendly, since they can't knock over any chairs.

We came upon this place when searching Google maps to find out where we were. We traveled from the Canadian Prairies to Huntington Beach on a whirlwind family adventure. What a gem of a place! The food was incredible and the atmosphere of this "on the waters" restaurant was next level! If you ever find yourself in the area with an empty tummy, I highly recommend checking this place out.*first time I ever tried oysters! (DELICIOUS!!!)

I had the fish and chips, it came out looking amazing picture perfect really and it tasted how it looked, which doesn't happen very often. They always say first impressions are everything, Bud and Gene's took this to heart, from the moment you walk in everything is bright, clean, and very inviting. The moment I walked in I was politely greeted and had the menu explained to me. The views from the dining room are spectacular, you get to look out over the harbor and watch the ships come in as well as some sea life. This is definitely a place I will insist on coming back to next time I'm in the Huntington area.

What time is this place opened? Every time we walk to the end of the pier to check, it is Closed.

Delicious food, super friendly staff. Excellent beer/wine and a fun, bright environment with an unbeatable view at the end of the pier. Definitely not the previous restaurant; but worthy of judging upon it's own merits. 3 out of 5 stars, wouldn't change a thing.

The spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. An excellent combination of flavors. Love the casual vibe, and the severs were very friendly. Of course you can’t beat the iconic view from Huntington. Pier. Will defiantly return to sample more of the menu..
