Downtown HB is definitely a mixed bag. Summer is obviously the busiest time of year. Every Tuesday night (weather permitting) they have a swap meet / farmers market from 5-9pm.The worst part of downtown HB are the ridiculous number of bars. There are more than 10 bars in two blocks. This creates a less than friendly atmosphere for families. Definitely don’t hang around after 8pm.On the positive side, they have plenty of parking options. There is a garage right off of Main St, one off of Fifth St and many metered parking spots all over the area. You can also park right on the beach at PCH. The Main St garage is the cheapest.Lots of ice cream spots here as well, so if you need some ice cream you have options!

Went to Fred's Mexican restaurant, enjoyed patio seating looking out to pier & ocean. Walked some shops.
