Fred's is the go-to spot when I'm in Huntington Beach. Great food and great margaritas. The views are amazing. Great location

Fred’s Mexican Cafe is in a great spot near the boardwalk, and the atmosphere is super fun with bright, colorful décor that really sets the vibe. We went on a Sunday around noon and parked in a nearby structure, which was pricey, but expected for the area. We started with drinks, and while they were delicious (I had a Mango Margarita and my fiancé had a Michelada—both excellent), it took forever to actually get them. We noticed drinks just sitting at the bar while servers were distracted, chatting or on their phones. We even had to order something twice, so the service definitely needs improvement. On the bright side, the food made up for it! The guacamole and chips were fresh and tasty, and the carnitas tacos were fantastic—flavorful, generous portions, and perfectly seasoned. Overall, Fred’s has great food, amazing drinks, and a fun atmosphere. If the service matched the quality of the food and drinks, it would be an outstanding spot. I’d go back, hoping the service improves.
We love this spot! Been here a few times, but after having moved to HB, we came again after July 4th. Fred's location is amazing, with great views of the beach from the upstairs patio. The food is delicious and service was very quick, especially considering how packed it was. Pricing is pretty reasonable and portions a just right. I had the Baha Fish tacos and my wife had the Calamari Strips.
You gotta try the House Margarita Goblet, for sure!
If you love great beach views and excellent Mexican food, Fred's is a must visit when you're in Huntington Beach!
Great place and food. Meed a great Waitress ask for Brianna very attentive and Manager je came by a couple of times just checking in. Definitely will be back when in this area.
Fred's doesn't mess around with portion sizes - I'm pretty sure they're legally required to warn you before bringing out the plates. Had an absolute blast here, and the food was so good I almost forgot how ridiculously huge everything was. Drinks never went dry. The staff was awesome and knew the surrounding area well, and by the end of lunch, everyone's either planning the next visit or figuring out how to fit the leftovers in their fridge. Fair warning: come hungry or bring reinforcements!
Had a reservation and got seated right away. An amazing view and amazing foods. Although, they had messed up my order but brought what I had ordered very quickly. Again the food was amazing! On another note, we had ordered a third margarita with plans watch and enjoy the sunset for a bit. When received, after knowing what it should be from the other two, the third drink was straight juice.
It was a very nice place. Views are great and so was the service. Food tasted awesome and was fresh.
U need to try the chicken chingadera!
We stumbled upon this restaurant while at the beach. It's absolutely fantastic! Don't miss eating here!
Had an excellent meal and experience at Fred's. I greatly appreciate their willingness to modify their meal to cater to my carnivore diet.
It was my wife's birthday and they were excellent in helping us celebrate.
Did was tasty, great views, and everyone left happy and full.
Highly recommend.

The front desk said "they don't take reservation. " Fortunately there was plenty of seating available. I definitely had an Open Table confirmed reservation.
Very nice views but the service was not on par - young staff that has very little service etiquette, training or mannerisms. The seats were disgusting with food scrapes and we watched as the tables turned over and never once was a chair wiped. Several of the chairs were also in need of replacement, they wobble. No filling of empty napkin holders, absolutely not awareness of any of this. Waitress was not privy to the ingredients in plates and was incorrect several times. If you are here to hang out in loud music and wait and wait for food and drinks, while an entitled service staff can't get an order correct, this is the place. This seemed more like a Hooters and definitely not a family type place. They seem to be working against the tide not with it. We over tipped and still got attitude and it was clear that acting classy isn't on the menu. We should have gotten that by the way the females dress, more like an overpriced beach hangout place. Seems like customer service is set at a very low bar. Food was good - a suggestion, take out and eat across the street by the pier, would have be more enjoyable and sans the self entitlement service and childish attitude. But in all fairness this has become the norm Pride in self & service with young folks is seriously lacking, it is hard to come by. There are other really good Mexican restaurants in this area, all within a 2 minute walk. No way to contact upper management Thumbs down overall. Two thumbs down for Frankie L. Suggestions: get off your high horse and don't take everything as critical, you definitely need to brush up on your skills
Overall everything was fine. Extra busy that night. Came in to celebrate wife's birthday and they forgot. Also was unaware of her allergies that I put in the reservation on open table.
Fred's is a go to for my family. Celebrated my nieces 18th birthday here and service/food was fabulous. They went above and beyond for us!!!
Portions are huge, food was quick, and staff were attentive. I had the beef burrito which I can thoroughly recommend. Its over a pound in weight
