I was about to write a nice yelp review on the Hang Out in Huntington Beach which is our favorite restaurant. I noticed the "bad" review regarding Niki and was appalled!!! It was obvious to me this person had some kind of a personal vendetta! I've been going to the Hangout with family and friends for years and we always ask for Niki's section. She's personable, professional, sweet and kind and really cares about her customers. When she walks by other tables she interacts with others and always makes them smile. She told us she was working her way through college to get her masters degree to become a physical therapist. She recently told us her favorite uncle had passed away and she was flying home to be with family. Perhaps this was the time this aweful review was written. It seems the person who wrote this has no compassion for others and some personal deep seeded issues to go out of their way to try and ruin her reputation. My family was eating at the Hangout one night and a family member started to choke and couldn't breath Nikki rushed over did the Heimlich maneuver and literally saved her life. She is a asset and a blessing to your establishment and she deserves to be treated with respect. If she leaves because of this bad review my friends and family including myself will never be back. My fiancé and I recently dined at The Hangout as he had previously visited the Seal Beach location on numerous occasions for business lunch meetings. He rants & raves about the exceptional service and incredible food. However, our experience at the Huntington Beach location was completely contrary, as we were flabbergasted by Nikki's lousy and inadequate service. Initially, upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with warm smiles and promptly seated. Our experience turned south as soon as we were "attended" by Nikki, who was consistently and constantly checking her cell phone, attending/entertaining personal matters, all while neglecting her table and responsibilities. In addition, Nikki was unfamiliar and/or uninterested in making menu suggestions/recommendations when asked. My fiancé and I have never experienced such an unskilled, unknowledgeable, and incompetent server. She clearly was not prepared to take on her shift and neither was she performing her basic job functions & tasks. Nikki was scrambled, frazzled, inattentive and was extremely unprofessional. Nikki's blatant disregard of service was appalling. Nikki was not task focused nor customer driven, and clearly does not have the basic skills or knowledge to perform her job. She is a clear misfit for the restaurant industry. The owner of the Hangout restaurant brand has done a tremendous job in having clean establishments, providing excellent food, and creating a family-friendly environment. It is very unfortunate that we did not have a positive experience due to our useless server. Nikki needs to represent the Hangout brand with the upmost pride & integrity, and that is accomplished/achieved by providing top A grade service to each and every customer that walks through that door. -Suzy

Been going here for years. Was are ho to when we couldn't decide. Last two visits have been terrible. Last week she forgot to put our order in then she came back to ask us what we ordered. Then she crewed up the order and had to re-submit. I ordered a club sandwich with a Avacado on the side. When I got the bill she charged me for double avocado. Today went in with our grand daughter. Ordered sliders for her and Fish& chips for us. 30 minutes later had to go to the kitchen to find our server. She apologized and a few minutes later brought out cold sliders and fries. We tried getting her attention but no luck. Let the granddaughter eat cold food. Now the tables around us that ordered after us were getting their food. Went to find our server again and she said the ticket got lost. So in 50 minutes there she never came back to check on us. I asked to cancel the order and let me lay for the cold sliders. She apologized and said the kitchen was backed up. If that was the case why were are neighbors getting their good. She said she would "comp" us god the good we never received. Paid for the cold food and left. Going to have to be pretty desperate for me to go back. Disappointing, this used to be our go to. Not sure why the service turned upside down.

Food is good. Service is good, friendly. BUT... Watched the server pickup trash off the floor and then use his unwashed hands to handle the dishes he was serving! Management needs to watch the employees and enforce some rules about hygiene! Firth and final visit to the Hangout!two stars maybe...

Just walked out. Hostess took us to our table. We sat for 15/20 minutes. No acknowledgment from server. Spoke to hostess...said he'd be right with us. Other customers came in and sat down and orders taken. Our waiter come to our area, looked at us and walked away. So we walked out.

This is a place we have been going to in Seal Beach for years. It is directly across the street from the pier and has wonderful ocean breezes. They have a full bar, and excellent choices for breakfast and lunch. Affordable, good service and generous portions. We usually do beach parking if street parking is unavailable.

Service was tremendous, food was tasty and plentiful. I did see a burger go by and it was humongous. Lots of fries with order and a decent selection. Thanks to inflation, prices are creeping up there. Expect to pay $50 for 2 people and 1 delicious dessert. I plan to revisit but next time I will have a light lunch.

The service was trash. Food was good but very average. Part of my meal was cold and it took like 10+ minutes to even get coffee.
Usually come here twice a month or so but last night was a tough one, we ordered a spaghetti dish that was extremely salty including the pasta, wow! Also ordered the fried chicken sliders which was a little bit dry but tasty.

Lived in Huntington Beach for decades.. but never ate here. Although a lot of my friends have. I kept seeing it on my way to a job and said oh hell I'll pop in here. I really like the atmosphere I like how it's set up their pictures of their food are really good the presentation is excellent but the food just isn't all that good it's mediocre. But.. don't get me wrong the food is not bad. At all. Might be even a little pricey but I would recommend this overall I definitely definitely would! Compared to a lot of other places. Plus they have a huge full bar with draft beers looks really cool.. and I guess if you're in your end if you know the people that work there you'll be cackling and laughing hard across the entire place while other people are just trying to eat and get the normal business day-to-day service from their waitresses.
