Literally, the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. Generous portions, reasonable prices and welcoming atmosphere.

I've been coming here for 20 years, and unfortunately the service and food has gone down. Ordered 3 plates in 2 separate orders, 1. a taco, rice and beans and 2. chicken quesadilla and the chicken in the quesadilla and taco was dry and tasteless. The other order was another birria taco plate with rice and beans and it took 19 mins to make and when we inquired, they said well it only 19 mins, never apologized or offered to make it right. Acted aloof. And it wasn't good. Find another mexican spot.

This is one of my childhood favorite places from back when I was in high school in the 90s. Every time I end up back in Huntington Beach I have to take a stop in here. The food is amazing as well as the service. I highly recommend this place.

Food authentic. Tastes like homemade yumminess. And the employees who take the orders and serve go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable.

Food: 8/10 salsas were good and the burrito was a good size with decent amount of meat. I got the carne asada burrito
0 it took ~35 mins to get my burrito for take out
0 it costs over $16 for a standard carne asada burrito takeout including tax and no tip.

See my previous ***** review below, written a decade or more ago.. Yes, I've been eating here since the early 90's. Honestly, it's the only number I know off the top of my head. I'm not sure what's going on, but lately their waittime has become exorbitant. Today I called in an order and was quoted a 20 minute wait. Ten minutes later I went in and paid. I sat there waiting for almost 40 minutes. I checked on my order once and when they started to deliver food to people who came in after I had, not only called in my order, but had already paid for it, I started to lose my mind and said I'd be happy to take my money back. So after over 40 minutes I went home with no food and warm beer. VERY unhappy! BEWARE they don't process their orders on a first come, first served basis. Luckily there's plenty of taco shops here.
Las Barcas has been a standard for me for over 20 years... so much so, I've memorized their phone number. You can eat in, take out, or my favorite call ahead and pickup. The food is consistently excellent, the salsa is great, and the guacamole is really guacamole!

Love their burrito. I ordered one for me and my friend. It's too big for 2 and delicious!!! Will come backkk...
We've been coming here for decades. After moving out of state, this was one of the places we used to have to hit while visiting.
Not anymore.
The food is good, so I'll just say that up front. Where Las Barcas now falls short is that they nickel and dime you for any extras you may need.
Need a sour cream? That's $1.49. Need 4 extra flour tortillas because they only give you 3 (yes that's right, 3) in their large chicken fajita meals-that'll be another $2.15...oh, and that's for a 3 pack, so you can only have 3.
When you spend nearly $100 like I just did on a meal for 5, then go back within minutes to the same guy at the front (who's keenly aware of how much I just spent on dinner there), you shouldn't try to squeeze more out of the customer. Maybe it's a lack of training or bad leadership. If I were the manager, I would train my employees to just offer a sour cream or a few extra tortillas especially to high paying customers.
That would've been a much more memorable and pleasant experience, and this review would not exist, and we would still continue to stop in like we have for decades. This ends here. Adios, mi amigos.
Btw, I ordered the small guac which is the equivalent of 1 cup, and it cost $8.49 +tx. You heard me right. WTH?? Are they buying their avocados from Beverly Hills or something?
The guy taking my order either was very distracted, or just really unorganized. I had asked for a combo plate with my tacos which should've come with beans and rice. I swear he heard and acknowledged me, but no beans and rice (for Jesus Christ) with my meal. However, I did get an extra fish taco that I paid for, but didn't actually order. Also, my daughter wanted one of her fish tacos to be spicy, again a head nod acknowledgement, but alas, no caliente pescado.
I'm really disappointed in this experience, it really was the last gas, and as a result, we won't be returning again on our future regular visits to SoCal.
If you’re looking for some good, authentic, Mexican food, Las Barcas is the perfect place! The food is not only delicious and cooked to perfection, but the service and employees are outstanding as well. Definitely a must try place, can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food and amazing service! Had a great experience here. Some of the best Mexican food in Huntington Beach. Will definitely be back!
