I was conflicted about whether to give Rol 4 or 5 stars. I’m a sushi and hand roll aficionado. I’d eat it daily and I’ve been to most of the places in SoCal. The fish quality here is very good. I got the lunch special and at $16 for 4 rolls that’s a very good price. But the rolls are very small. Usually I can have enough at 5 rolls to be full. Here I had 6 and I could have still eaten more.

Other than that, I have no complaints. It’s a clean restaurant located right off beach blvd in main part of city. The servers were attentive and nice. I’m just a big eater and I would have to order 7-8 rolls to feel satisfied.

It’s a good place to eat. I’m being a little hard on the rating due to how much the meal costs and I enjoy their “competitors” more. It’s a bit on the more expensive side if you want to eat enough to be full. Got the 7 piece set menu hand roll (blue crab and a few other rolls were 6-7/10, the scallop roll and unagi were my favorite 9/10)

Chili Garlic Edamame 7/10, Furikake Fries 8.5/10, also got the A5 Wagyu hand roll which was 1 hand roll for $25.. for the price and other A5 Wagyu I’ve had, it’s a 7.5/10… also got Hojicha Purin for dessert which was a 10/10

Overall it’s not a bad place, but I’m being extra harsh and critical on my rating due to the price and the fact that I like their “competitor hand roll bar” place better which is a similar price.

Had to wait 30+ mins for a table due to a lot of people wanting to eat here. Once I was seated, the service was fast and the food came quickly.

Overall rating: 7.8/10

Great lunch deal Monday to Friday. Friendly staff and the rolls are delicious. Best to have a reservation since they are busy.

The hand rolls are served fresh one at a time, so it's crunchy and fresh. Will be back soon!

My 8 year old child ordered a kids plate. After we sat there for over 40 min without no food for my daughter we asked for her food, they forgot to enter it, and said the manager wasn't there to make the situation right. She basically got her food when all the adults were done eating and I was STILL expected to pay for it which I did. I just think the price is so high for the amount of food it is and the quality was nothing special. The customers satisfaction was not their priority.

Good sushi, but very expensive and small portions. Sitting at the bar was fun, we got to watch the sushi being made. But the salmon was blended and less flavorful than when sliced.

Been here multiple times and the quality of the dishes never change. A great place to see a glimpse of semi-fine dining (especially bar seats) where you'll see the chefs craft your hand rolls and cocktails to perfection.

People raved about this sushi restaurant, it was decent but I don't think I'd go back. The service was outstanding, the food was good, but the prices are expensive for what you get. IMHO, there are better sushi restaurants for the same $. You won't have a bad meal, it just left me wanting for more. The only negative about this place is the loud noise inside, it's difficult to have a conversation without yelling, which only adds to the noise.

My daughter and I had been looking for a good hand roll restaurant ever since J/Wata closed. ROL is everything we had hoped for. We had been to NEP, a sister restaurant to ROL, and it was so good I would basically eat every day and KEI Concepts restaurants if I could.

At ROL, the host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Expect a bit of a wait if you come during busy times. We were there around 2pm on a Friday and it only took about 10 minutes to get seated. It would’ve been worth a much longer wait though!

Our server Kevin was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We each got the six-roll set, and shared the cucumber salad. The food was perfect—the nori was toasted to a crisp, the rice was warm and well seasoned, and the fillings had great flavor and texture. The scallop was our favorite. Six rolls is filling for two average-sized appetites. The chef was also lovely—she timed each roll nicely and everything was beautifully executed. I wanted to try the furikake fries, but it would’ve been too much! I also enjoyed the yuzu-guava spritz—a fantastic mocktail option if you’re looking for one.

I don’t often take time to leave reviews but ROL and NEP really wowed me. I recommend both!

Hands down the best sushi hand roll restaurant ever! We come here every weekend and the quality plus service is excellent and consistent every time. We brought many friends and family here and they love it just as much. They also have fun kids meals at $6. Highly recommend!

The hand rolls are special here, with the seaweed warm, toasty with a nice crunch. The seafood itself, while nothing exotic or special, is quality. Always good with the draft beer. My fav of the Kei concept restauy.
