Nice little restaurant. The food was ok. The location was great. The atmosphere out on the patio was decent. Our server was amazing. This restaurant was recommended by a very nice lady working on the pier at one of the gift shops. The history of the restaurant was cool. This restaurant is a bit spendy.
The cinnamon roll is super sweet. The bacon was nice and thick. The burritos are massive.
I recthis restaurant. I would give it a second try.
Kid-friendliness: The kids were loud and crazy. Our server was amazing with them.

Staff here is great. Food is hearty, as a good surfer needs. Lol.
We love the back covered patio, which has a separate waiting list from the front patio waiting list. They have a small interior space, too.
The food was great. I had the Half Keppler (15.95), which is one Eggs Benedict with scrambled egg, tomato, bacon, avocado and Hollandaise sauce. You can also get a Whole ($18), which has 2 of them. Either comes with hash browns or you can substitute fresh fruit for a $2 upcharge. Prices went from $9 to $18 in 8 years, which seems high but is probably in line with other places.
Others at our table enjoyed French Toast (which looked yummy), and various egg/bacon/toast plates. The pile of bacon was huge on my partner’s plate!
As to the interior, there is one restroom. It’s a single large room. The tables in the back patio are a bit wonky, can be tippy. And the covers looked dirty so we asked for them to be re-cleaned, but it turns out they are just stained black plastic. The colorful murals on the walls are wonderful for the surf vibe.
Parking: Metered street parking or some local lots with paid parking.

Yummy scrambled eggs benny on the patio on Main Street while the sun came out. Husband had the Ranger chicken sandwich which was out of this world. Hashbrowns were the best we’ve ever eaten. I would order them with a sandwich instead of the fries, they were so so.

I had the most amazing breakfast experience here! The omelettes are absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, fluffy, and filled with fresh ingredients. The service was wonderful too! The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The cozy atmosphere and welcoming vibe made it a great spot to start the day. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great breakfast!

I ate breakfast at sugar shack at 11am Tues and I've been sick with food poisoning all day. Still in agony at 12:09 p.m. My eggs ordered "over easy" arrived on my plate with the whites still raw. My English muffins were barely brown and cold. I should have sent it back but the service was basically non-existent. I was lucky to even get a refill on coffee. I live in Huntington Beach, I regret eating there, and will never go back.

Probably just ordered the wrong thing. Table of 3 all ordered steak and eggs. All 3 steaks were charred well done when we all asked for med-rare. Will come back and try something else though.

Whenever we visit Huntington Beach, we make our way from our hotel to the Sugar Shack for breakfast. Food is always good, prices are reasonable and the staff ate always friendly and helpful. Can't see having breakfast anywhere else.
