Katie made us excellent cocktails paired with amazing pizza! The crust was the perfect crunch. But the tiramisu made by one of the owners is a big reason while I'll go back. A big thank you to them for the personalized anniversary card and dessert.
The food and restaurant is one of the best. Real European Italian food. That you can't find but in Italy. We have been visiting since they opened years ago. Checkout the way the restaurant way built. Using the highest workmanship and detailed. Besides the building , the food is a treat and filling. Enjoy your meal !!
Amber is the best! So is the chicken pesto pizza. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Great wine list as well.
Great ambiance! Our servers were delightful and the food was delicious. Ordered vegan pizza, pasta with garlic and olive oil and delicious bottle of wine. Friendly guests and staff. Highly recommend!
Terrific place! Excellent food and a lovely back patio. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Ferro has a splendid deck in the back illuminated by soft lighting and maintaining a cozy sheltering atmosphere. The food was scrumptious and the tiramisu was an authentic and delicious rendition made in-house. The serving staff were attentive and paid attention to details to ensure timely service.
I always enjoy my time at Ferro and is a must when Im in Idyllwild. Such a perfect spot, ambience, great food and service. As a traveler, I always appreciate being able to take my pooch.
Let me start by saying that Ferro has all the makings of a charming, memorable dining experience. The restaurant is tucked away in the scenic mountaintop town of Idyllwild, boasting a quaint and stylish ambiance that immediately sets a welcoming tone. The staff? Warm, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
From the moment the bread sticks and butter were brought to the table, I had high hopes. The butter was a creamy blend of herbs and spices—full of promise. I thought, “Okay, we’re in for a treat,” especially since so many locals had recommended the spot.
We ordered the gluten-free pizza and the Pollo Arrosto—a classic roasted chicken dish. When the plates arrived, the presentation was decent, but the taste… or rather the lack of it, was stunning. My wife and I exchanged a glance that felt eerily familiar to the early days of COVID—as if our taste buds had suddenly vanished.
The gluten-free pizza was perhaps the most bland, forgettable version I’ve ever encountered. I understand gluten-free crusts are different, but this was completely devoid of flavor, seasoning, or soul. The Pollo Arrosto was somehow both dry and greasy, with no discernible herbs or seasoning to speak of. Even the potatoes and broccolini—simple sides that usually shine with a touch of salt, garlic, or olive oil—were disappointingly dull and lifeless.
It pains me to say this, because we’ve fallen in love with Idyllwild and wanted to love Ferro just as much. But based on our visit, this restaurant is in serious need of a menu overhaul—or perhaps a new chef who can bring the food up to the level of its atmosphere and service.
“Mediocre” would be generous. Sadly, this was one of the worst meals we’ve had in a long time.
Chicken pesto pizza was so good! Nice staff too, very welcoming environment, LGBTQ friendly
Amazing place

Walked out in with our pet around 5pm. There were plenty of open empty tables. Hostess guy said that the patio seating is booked until 9:40pm. Yeah right, no lines, no waiting people, empty tables inside and outside but place is booked until almost closing.
More like discrimination.
Highly suggest Asians to not even bother going to this place. This was my 3rd trip here to Idyllwild to support local businesses. I will not come back here ever or recommend this place.
Always good food and great service from Kadie.
Worst service I have ever had in my life and I have owned a restaurant never going back ever!
The highlight was coming in on a Tuesday night and finding it was easy to get an outdoor table and being pleasantly surprised by a jazz band playing inside. Also a nice selection of Amari and an excellent black Manhattan cocktail. Alas, I was disappointed by the food, especially for the price. Several review speak to the not-so-Italian authenticity of the food and sadly I have to agree. The beef carpaccio was reasonably good but the cacio y pepe was middling (and had little pepe!). Improved with ground pepper but still closer to an Alfredo sauce than classic cacio y pepe. The cremini mushroom contorni was super disappointing. This would have been disappointing at any price point but for one this high ($126 for an app and entree and contorni for 1) I have to give the experience 1-2 stars.
Fabulous staff. location, menu and the food was outstanding. Super fresh and authentic dishes. Staff were amazing and really helped us celebrate our wedding anniversary ❤️ On a side note, the restroom is SUPER clean and loved the Dean Martin art. Would highly recommend
