Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar

The food was really, shockingly, bad. I was surprised. Specifically the calamari and rib eye steak. I hate to sound catty, but the truth of it is that the steak was slightly better than a breakfast steak at Waffle House. Great location, nice waiter, good ambience. I'm just saying this so brigantine can do better.

Food was delicious. Large portions! Rather a cold and sterile environment. If you're looking for ambience this isn't it! Loud. Good place for a beer and quick bite.

First time to this location. It is now my favorite Brig. Excellent and very friendly service. Food was great. Nothing to do with the restaurant but parking is a nightmare of sorts. Friday night at 6:30pm in IB near the beach is tough. Great experience at the Brig which never disappoints.

We each got different dinners and all were very good! Staff was very polite and responsive, and we enjoyed the reggae music 😎

I thought the food was excellent and the service was good. However, I was unhappy with their reservation policy. We booked way in advance, and requested a table outside in the front of the restaurant. As we walked up to the hostess it appeared that our table was ready and waiting for us but in the next few seconds , our table was given to someone else. We were given an unsuitable table outside facing a wall with a screeching door almost hitting me every time it opened.

Food was fine, octopus too chewy. Service was good although super busy and too loud for conversation

The chairs n tables height ratio was odd . I'm not tall but the table was too low for my chair. The entire table was super sticky. We love The Brig n go often to other locations

I've been a fan of Briantine fish tacos for years- primarily at the Del Mar location (outside of Fair and Racing seasons, lol). I was meeting friends for lunch: one who lives in Imperial Beach 1 Bay Park- me in Carlsbad. It is a smaller location than Del Mar- but right across the street from the IB plexi surfboard sculpture, the beach and the Ocean. I had a passionfruit spicy margarita. We made a rsvp for noon and sat on the patio out front. The wait staff was great, the food was great, and it was not too warm. Since I live and work around North County- I often pass by IB on my way to the Border and CBX and think about how I used to visit often- because I was a chamber rep for my organization at the time. Last Friday the space and this old school beach city reminded me of summers as a teen. It even smelled like summer. I totally enjoyed everything about the lunch ! As is my habit- I totally forgot to take pics of the food and drink- but trust me- it was perfect!

The IB Brig was great, as always ! The fish tacos were delicious, the NY steak perfectly cooked. Beers were icy cold. Service was on point. What more do you want ? One of our family's go to restaurants, the Brigantine never disappoints !

Great place for our 2025 Easter Celebration ; we each ordered different things and we had one appetizer for the table and everything was great

Good was extremely taste and martinis were very good. Service was attentive but the appetizers arrived after the main dish.

Family of 5 trip to the area.we did not have reservations and went on a Sunday, about 1:00 pm. We were seated right away, however by the time we left people were waiting to be seated.
Service was great! Atmosphere, you almost can't get any better with being across the street from the beach yet very clean and beautiful inside.
Food was ok. I am not a food snob by any means and I always make note of the best dishes I eat so here is my review on the food with photos. Food presentation was nice. Happy hour is available so I highly suggest that menu if you just want to sample items for your first trip or if you're not that hungry.
1. Appetizer Calamari- very chewy. I like my calamari kind is like a bite of good steak- I did not like it.
2. Fried Artichokes- the breading was light and were fried nicely however the artichokes were mushy. I did not like this dish. I am from the Bay Area so I know what they should taste like.
3. Nachos- they were nachos.My mom liked them.
4. Potato skins - nothing fancy, they were potato skins
5. Clam Chowder- nice flavor, creamy and thick. Not the best I've had but would order it again for sure.
6. Swordfish tacos- Tasty- would order again
7. Fish and Chips- fish was flaky and not dry. I would order this again. Fries were good.
- Everyone at the table tried each item and consensus was reached by all on each dish.
I would def go back to this restaurant for at least the service and Atmosphere. It's def worth a stop and you may have a difference of opinion on the food. Cheers!
Oh! One last mention... parking across the street for $2.00 only!! Huge plus in my book!! And we only had to circle the block twice before a spot opened up. But it is a small lot. Maybe we were just lucky because it was St. Patrick's Day ☘️ 😊

The service was very good, the drinks were not great either.
I had fish tacos with fries instead of chips while my husband had the chicken sandwich with chips.
The fish tacos tasted like frozen fish filets, not a good start. The shrimp appetizer, was over boiled, the oysters while presented well, tasted bad and looked tattered like they had struggles to get them disconnected from the shell....
Chicken sandwich wasn't great, fries and chips both tasted like mehhh and nome of the veggies tasted fresh or well seasoned.

Reuben sandwich was so uninteresting. Not a real delicatessen work of art. The boring bread fell apart and created a mess. The small chunks of corn beef were falling out. The atmosphere was more like a cafeteria than a cozy restaurant. The server was great, but it was cold as heck in the restaurant. Nit going back
