Told the owner, who is the bar tender, that a customer just shouted “zeig heil” while sitting at her bar and that it was a nazi slogan. She feigned ignorance. I told her that if she has one Nazi in her bar then the whole bar is a nazi bar. Owner then got angry at me and told me to deal with it myself while having security come try to intimidate me. They just kept claiming they aren’t a nazi bar while not acknowledging what just happened or attempting to shut down racist customer behavior. IB has a long history of white supremacy that I thought had been wiped out. Apparently fascism is back in fashion. Disgusted. Paid for my one drink and left.

I've lived in the neighborhood for 35 plus years and never thought I would step foot inside Salty Dog bar. Being a non frequent drinker, hole-in-the wall bars just never caught my fancy. And, only then will I entertain a night out unless I'm with the right group of people.
I've been to this bar several times now and it's been nothing but good old fashion fun. You can be yourself and no one bothers you. It's not crazy crowded, at least when I've been there during the weekdays. I can actually find a seat at the bar or just lounge in the back area on a couch. There are also tables and chairs to choose from. There has been a DJ, live band, karaoke or just plain music jammin.
The highlight for me: the bar tenders ! They were attentive and friendly. Shout out to Justin and I forgot young looking female bartender's name. Shout out to her too
This bar may not be as lit and inviting looking from the outside, don't judge. Step inside, give it a try 👍🏼
Oh and see how many frogs you can find around the bar ...I counted about 15 plus.

Not really any food here but my god it was a fun little dive bar with great live music on the weekend. Cheap happy hour and great fun service. If your in imperial beach stop by and have a few beers and don't forget to grt the free popcorn either.

Neat place! Came here with my boyfriend for live music. They don't serve food here, but they let us bring in our own food, and they also give out popcorn for free. The drinks are made good too!

Food took over 20 minutes to arrive, while celebrating my sisters birthday, my sister was forced to leave after being told she had gotten sick on premises, I was with her the entire night and did not witness that happen once.

I've only been twice for karaoke and both times were so fun. Jason the DJ is so much fun and the bartenders are friendly and make a stiff drink.
