This place was a neat stop if you like pop-culture history. Opened in 1954, Burger Box is a decent fast food joint built into a former combination gas station/motel. Imagine travelling America's remote highways in the 1950s, where you have a gas station, motel and restaurant all in one convenient place. Today the gas station and motel are closed, but the original structures remain. It's a bit of a time machine that allows you to glimpse a bit of interstate travel...
Hmm… what can I say? This was average to not really. The best thing was the fries were unique; thick cut slices for good potato taste. The burger was rather blah, no tomatoes or lettuce. Just meat American cheese and onion. Not much condiments either. Kinda like a White Castle burger but just a little bigger. The date shake was alright and the people were friendly. Don’t think I’d go back.
Stopped at this little place on the way back from Indio. Given the reviews, I was very interested to try this restaurant. After having tried it, I do not believe I will be going back. The servers are very nice and kind. However, you always need to have an ear out because they will call your name from the window to pick up your order, so you always have to listen.As for the food… let’s begin with the burgers: The cheese burger was… okay at best. It felt like frozen re-grilled...
