Sooo cute but no flags
The little gift shop is amazing. The souvies are very reasonable and a good variety of items to choose from. The lady in the shop very helpful and friendly. She even told us about a mystery celeb encounter.

After our breakfast next door we ventured into this interesting place which was part post office and antiques. The young man working the counter was polite and personable. Its worth a stop getting breakfast or lunch and stopping here for a browse or to make some purchases. I would recommend a visit ?
the waitress not very helpful doesn’t listen to order maybe different shift would be better. been in past was good this time only had canned chili nothing special
I stopped at Chiriaco Coffee on Sunday Nov 7 at 7am and I ordered a black coffee with a shot of espresso in it. The coffee was $2 plus the $3 espresso, so I was confused why the bill I was given was for almost $9, and I noticed the staff member (named VIRGINIA) mistakenly charged me for 2 espressos so I kindly corrected her and asked for her to refund the extra shot, expecting it to be a quick simple fix, but instead Virginia immediately became aggressive with me, raising her voice to explain she misunderstood and thought I wanted a double shot (I told her the whole time I just wanted a coffee with an espresso shot which she said was a 2 oz. espresso so I agreed and said I wanted that). I told her she must have misunderstood, there’s no way I would order a $9 coffee, I just wanted 1 shot of espresso in a regular coffee and again Virginia refused to admit her mistake or charge me correctly so I waited to speak to another staff member. At that point Virginia rudely GRABBED MY COFFEE OUT OF MY HAND and poured it out into the sink, then angrily started to make another coffee. By now I was shocked by Virginia’s incredibly unprofessional rude behavior and I just wanted my refund and to leave, but she made me wait while she went to go get coins from the back, and the whole time she was speaking in Spanish about me, clearly not knowing I’m a fluent Spanish speaker who understood everything she was saying: “le voy a cobrar uno grande, va a ver”, then still not giving me back the whole cost of the espresso. I had been planning on coming to the restaurant for a really big breakfast with my whole family after getting gas but due to how incredibly impolite Virginia was to me, we drove off immediately. We’d much rather spend our money at a respectful restaurant. I don't know why you would have Virginia working at your establishment. Please train her in how to correct her errors and speak to customers with kindness, or else fire her. I would appreciate it if Virginia or someone at Chiriaco Summit Management reached out with an apology at least or a $5 coffee gift card or something to not leave such a terrible taste in our mouth. I had hoped to recommend this place and come back again, but for now, I have to rate it zero stars on all the review websites due to Virginia’s wildly inappropriate behavior, physically pulling my coffee out of my hand to pour it down the drain, she acted like an angry child and should not be allowed to treat guests (or anyone) like this. It’s ok that she made a mistake- that is human- but how she rudely reacted and refused to correct her mistake was not ok. Please make sure Virginia doesn’t do this again, as my family did not feel comfortable or safe staying to eat a meal in Chiriaco due to Virginia’s shameful behavior and unwarranted attitude.
Food was great, service was great! We came in on a Monday evening with a party of six. Seated right away, ordered and food was at the table quickly. Thank you for the great experience!
Had called, but Governor had changed covid response and only takeout was available in limited was sold out. They have a country store that you can purchase snacks and treats which we also used. They have a grat outside pation that meets covid requirements, but not used. We pass by here some times and will see the Patton Museum when it can open, will try again
We were here for the museum, ate two meals in the cafe. Good food, a bit pricey, but not terribly so.
Restaurantji Recommends
Exited to see Patton Museum and stay at free (dry) RV park. This restaurant is in the complex (gas station, convenience store, antique shop, gift store, airport an Model A restoration shop. Breakfast lunch and dinner served. Staff very friendly and efficient. Restaurant VERY CLEAN. FOOD TASTY, FRESH, AND MADE WHEN ORDERED. Glad we stopped. Had two meals plus wandered thru the little community. Quite delightful and the history is very interesting and linked to establishment of Patton Museum. Really recommend!
Home made peach pie was delicious!
Standard roadside diner fare — good but nothing remarkable. Breakfast all day is a nice bonus. Given that it’s the only place around for quite a ways it’s a strategic stop, especially headed west. On our visit they were pretty busy and the staff were a bit overwhelmed and working hard. They weren’t rude but not very welcoming either under the circumstances. Not certain if that’s the norm here or not. Still a decent place to stop on a long drive.
We were passing thru from AZ to San Diego and stopped for gas (too expensive, we kept going) and get take out lunch. The sandwiches were terrible! Greasy, oily, they used Miracle Whip instead of mayo, and used american cheese instead of cheddar. The gift shop is fun and the jellies (blueberry jalapeno is my favorite) are great. But skip the food... we noticed a lot of plates left with a lot of food on them!
A roadside stopping point established long before the interstate was ever thought of. Varied menu will please just about anyone. Fair prices, good food. Glad we checked it out.
