My cousin really liked this place so we swung by the drive thru to pick up some food. She got the Chicken Katsu plate and I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Beef plate. Both plates also come with rice, veggies, and mac salad. You could also ask to substitute one of the rice scoops for another scoop of mac salad or vice versa for more rice.
Wait time was a little long in the drive thru, there were a couple of cars in front of us while we were in line. It's probably because everything is made to order and there were many orders in line and inside.I can't comment on the service inside the place and the atmosphere there, so it will just be about the food.
Everything we ordered was very delicious. I tried some of the Chicken Katsu and it was tasty, it had a nice crisp and it also came with katsu sauce too. But for me, the Hawaiian BBQ was the star of the show. The beef was flavorful, it was chewy, and I have no complaints. I'm also very particular about mac salad, but I really liked this one. It wasn't too sweet, sauce was light, and tasted slightly savory which I preferred. The veggies were a nice touch too, the cabbage was crunchy and refreshing.
I would absolutely recommend this place to people if they want to get some hawaiian plate lunch or if they want to eat something good.

Problem is that after I ordered a GIANT rat about 9inches long including tail 5inches body ran out of the lobby and scalped the wall Next to the BBQ sauce on to the ceiling.. pretty disgusting and non of the employee seemed to be bothered by this

Stopped in for a quick to go order. Had cold groceries in the car thinking 10-15 minutes max as the restaurant was pretty much empty. Ordered one aloha plate...took them 47 minutes to call my order. My cold food was spoiled by time I got back to my car. Disappointed in the service. Food was ok, nothing special
bad service creates bad atmosphere. the person at the register definitely not a people person people like that need to be shoved in the back maybe if he's not here when I come back I can give a better review

Love there 2 protein Aloha plate. I got the Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken & Pulled Kalua Pork, served on a bed of Steamed Rice and a side of Fresh Mix Salad with House Dressing (minus the red onions & edemame beans).

I usually come to Hono Hawaiian BBQ pretty often, but this last visit left me really disappointed. I asked the newest/biggest guy working there for two teriyaki sauces, and he denied me, saying they only give one per person because they need them for other customers. When I got home, I realized he didn’t even put one in my order. It’s unbelievable that with all the money I spend here, they can’t afford to give out teriyaki sauce. That doesn’t sound right — honestly feels more like laziness than policy. I hope management addresses this, because loyal customers shouldn’t be treated this way.
