After a long day in Inglewood and a tiring drive, I stopped by Awakening for a much-needed midday pick-me-up. The ordering process was smooth—I used one of the self-serve tablets to place my order. I went with the hibiscus matcha and the honey butter biscuit and opted for takeout. My order was ready in about 10 minutes.
While waiting, a staff member encouraged me to check out the back area, and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a spacious, cozy space with books, games, and a mix of people—some chatting, others studying or on calls. The atmosphere had a chill, creative vibe with good music playing in the background. Definitely a hidden gem if you want a place to hang out or get some work done.
As for the food and drink: the hibiscus matcha had a smoothie-like texture, which I wasn’t expecting. I thought it would be more like a traditional matcha with hibiscus flavor. It might be refreshing on a hot day, but it wasn’t what I was in the mood for at the time.
The honey butter biscuit was a bit of a letdown. The edges were burnt, so I couldn’t eat most of it. The center was okay but lacked the strong honey flavor I was hoping for. It would’ve been great if they included an extra packet of honey so I could add more to my liking.
Overall, I’d return for the vibe and to try something different on the menu. The space itself is worth experiencing!

Awakening is one of my favorite coffee shops & coworking space! I work from home, so it’s nice to change up the environment, especially when it’s as vibrant & lively as the staff, service, and the decor/design in Awakening. Btw, great matcha!

So glad that a place like this exists in Inglewood of all places. It has plenty of seating, they keep the menu exciting and rotate in different products, it’s clean and the staff/owners make sure to always welcome you in or back. Small details like recognizing customers are coming back is something that keeps me coming to this shop. They’re an awesome addition to this community!

Checked this cafe out after a friend recommended it to me, and I’ve been a fan ever since. I love a good matcha latte and Awakening surpassed my expectations. The drinks are delicious, the space is gravitating, the staff is awesome & kind… I have no complaints for this place. It’s my new favorite cafe.

No service with an actual person at all besides them calling out our name for our drinks. The drinks in my opinion are extremely over priced for the size. The dirty matcha latte was ok and the matcha lavender latte was pretty good. Over priced, subpar service, small sizes, ok drinks, extremely loud music. I'll just go to 7-Leaves or McDonald's for my latte next time.

I didn't get refunded for the danish I ordered that they were out of. I even double-checked if I would get some kind of verification of the refund and they said it would show correctly when the charge settled on my card. They don't have a number to call on their website and the number on the email receipt didn't work.
I went ahead and just disputed the charge with my bank--adding one more thing to worry about to my day ?? Feeling like places trying to pull a fast one on you is a frustrating experience. Always note your receipts until charges finalize.
Update: Now they refund (Oct 25, 2024, 10:17:45 AM). Only after I leave a negative review and dispute the charge, 2 days after my visit, do they (so quickly) get to refunding. ?
The best Matcha drink I’ve had so far, made exactly the way I wanted!
The ingredients are high-quality.
Don’t be discouraged by the small outdoor seating when you arrive—there’s a spacious, cozy area in the back you can access after ordering.
The seating area is bright and sunny, with lyric-free music, creating the perfect, distraction-free vibe.
People are working, reading, or chatting quietly, making it a great spot to focus and get things done.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
Added to my list of good cafes in LA.

what a place! food is good and actually not as expensive as i expected at a place like this. it has a very modern/trendy vibe to it, and after you order they send you back to the “cyber lounge” where you can eat (and in my case, crush your brother at chess). i don’t know if they have some tesla/space x relation, but there is a lot of that in the building. other than that, very cool place to hang out, would totally recommend for studying & such.

So I went here with a friend to discuss our business. Even though it was crowded it was a beautiful space to hangout and talk business. Should’ve taken a few photos but was really focused on business. Will be going back soon to see the co-working and podcast space. Definitely gonna shoot some contact here. Also the Naughty Avocado Toast was ???.
Super cool spot to hang out solo or with a group of friends. I tried one of the featured latte drink and also one of the matcha drinks too. Both were super delicious. Also had a bit of an appetite and tried 2 of the menu items both also very good. Would come back to hang and try other items on the menu.
