Was visiting from Arizona was blown away by this place. I lived in the south for 30 years and this cooking reminded me of being back there. Who knew you could get grits in LA but chicken and waffles are to die for everything‘s good. We sat outside and had lunch. It was such a beautiful day, nice owner and staff
I always get the catfish & grits plate and it is perfection. 2 perfectly fried catfish filets, not overly seasoned, not greasy, the grits are perfectly creamy, and if you order Togo everything is intentionally packed for optimal flavor experience. A winner. Oh and the sourdough bread is toasted yes fluffy so I know the sandwiches hit!
Grits and eggs were delicious. Chicken had the perfect doneness, however it was fried in in fish grease and we recognized it on the first bite. My sister asked the waiter, "Was this chicken fried in fish grease?" He confirmed our suspicion. Please DO NOT fry chicken in fish grease and serve it to customers. It may be okay to fry fish in chicken grease but not the other way around.
