Got sick after eating here. Couldn’t even finish the food I spent nearly $40 for. Called to possibly exchange the dish for one I was more familiar with and was given number to the manager who then denied they were the manager, which could be a misdial but the restaurant doesn’t respond to emails. Many Persian options in Irvine I’ll stay far away from this one.

The restaurant is very ordinary and there is nothing special or very delicious, only the cupida is excellent and the rest is God's blessing.
Good Mediterranean good

I have to be honest - our favorite spot for over a decade has gone downhill fast. What was once a gem for authentic Persian cuisine now feels like a cheap imitation. We dropped over $80 on four meals and regretted every bite. The chicken was as dry as anything you'd find at El Pollo Loco, the kebabs were bland and dry, and the rice might as well have been plain boiled. The gheimeh tasted straight out of a can! Just awful!! . It was so bad I had to bin it to save face in front of our guests. We ended up making frozen pizzas to salvage dinner. The decline in quality at Hen House is glaring. I used to sing its praises to everyone, but now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. They need to get their act together, especially for the prices they're charging. This isn't just disappointing; it's an insult to the Persian community.

The food is passable, but the service is unacceptable. The young lady at the cash register is pleasant and efficient. However, we saw reviews on the rudeness of a man who appeared to be owner (see Hamid’s review) - and decided to eat in the outdoor public space in courtyard. We ordered food for 4 people and spent close to $100.There was complimentary black tea offered. After our meal, we went back for the tea. We were given some sugar cubes and asked the white haired man for more sugar. He gruffly said “we don’t have anymore.” Then he reached under the counter and gave us two more sugar cubes. On my way out, I grabbed a couple or paper napkins from a dispenser and noticed a bowl of sugar cubes on each table. That guy is grumpy and does not know how to talk to people. By the way, while we were waiting for your order, we saw a grill chef quit on the spot and walk out. Not surprised.

Overly expensive, the food was bland, and they had overcharged me and I never received a refund. Would not recommend

A friendly outdoor seating area is the most important part of the experience here. People usually spend longer periods here and try food from the many options around, including Hen House that offers the most popular Persian dishes. You should also ask them about items that may not be on the menu to get pleasantly surprised from time to time.

For many years, we used to come to this location and I had left a 5 star review deserving of then service.Unfortunately, the past two times in recent month coming here has been disappointing. The quality, and service has deteriorated.I contemplated leaving a 3 star review as I don’t want to adversely impact sales, but decided to do so in hopes of management listening and getting the business back to what it used to be. Rather it gets better with voice of customer, vs. simply losing repeat (best) customers forever. For me, I “might” give this place one more opportunity. In hopes of seeing changes and upon trends, changing my review. But for now, the food has been just awful. Kabob dry and not tasty. The rice hard and the tea at the end, is now provided with hesitation and does not taste like typical Persian tea. And, they’ve been out of desert the past two times (which is not a must for us), but to me speaks of low customer base.Best of luck to this business. Hoping for change.

This is a place I used to go to every month from 10 years ago to 4 years ago , i was not in cali for the past 4 years, I came back to California and went back to hen house and tried the abgoosht and ghorme sabzi and kabab , sad to say the quality has gone from 10 to 2 stars. This was one of my most favorite places. the abgoosht was not fresh at all, tasted so old, and the ghorme sabzi was like a soup ash , not flavour at all, the kabab was so dry and much smaller. I'm only writing this because this was one of my favorite top places of all times, I hope management looks into this. I have friends trying it this or next month again and I update my review. Your great establishment is not cheap and its somewhat more expensive than standard restaurants. For the price it is expected be a high quality. Especially with the beautiful reputation in the past. Look forward to future improvements.

Ordered a Koobideh to go for a late lunch/early dinner and it felt like it was cooked hours ago and warmed up for the order. The taftoon bread was freshly baked and great though. Going to try other dishes next as a second chance.

I absolutely adore how Hen House keeps its doors open late. When hunger strikes in the wee hours, it's my top choice. While the menu leans toward the pricier side, the quality is exceptional and worth every penny. Their hummus is perfectly executed, and paired with naan, it's a delightful combination. The rotisserie chicken always impresses me—the skin is consistently crispy. They truly excel in the art of chicken cooking! ?
