This is a place I used to go to every month from 10 years ago to 4 years ago , i was not in cali for the past 4 years, I came back to California and went back to hen house and tried the abgoosht and ghorme sabzi and kabab , sad to say the quality has gone from 10 to 2 stars. This was one of my most favorite places. the abgoosht was not fresh at all, tasted so old, and the ghorme sabzi was like a soup ash , not flavour at all, the kabab was so dry and much smaller. I'm only writing this because this was one of my favorite top places of all times, I hope management looks into this. I have friends trying it this or next month again and I update my review. Your great establishment is not cheap and its somewhat more expensive than standard restaurants. For the price it is expected be a high quality. Especially with the beautiful reputation in the past. Look forward to future improvements.

Ordered a Koobideh to go for a late lunch/early dinner and it felt like it was cooked hours ago and warmed up for the order. The taftoon bread was freshly baked and great though. Going to try other dishes next as a second chance.

I absolutely adore how Hen House keeps its doors open late. When hunger strikes in the wee hours, it's my top choice. While the menu leans toward the pricier side, the quality is exceptional and worth every penny. Their hummus is perfectly executed, and paired with naan, it's a delightful combination. The rotisserie chicken always impresses me—the skin is consistently crispy. They truly excel in the art of chicken cooking! ?

We tried beef and chicken kubideh. The food was decent and reasonably priced. The fresh bread was very nice. Overall i recommend this place.

I love how Hen House stays open late. Whenever I'm hungry late at night, this is my #1 go-to spot. The menu is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality is on point and worth every penny. Their hummus is on point and with the naan it complements the meal very well. The chicken skin is crispy every time I order the rotisserie chicken. They really know how to cook a chicken ?

Went over for lunch this weekend and was served two Sandwiches, one was the Bandari-Style with sausage, potatoes, and their "spicy" sauce. This one was good, but my 2 year old todler could eat it. Meaning it wasn't spicy at all.The second one was a flavorless beef kabob sandwich. It was not edible. The Toftun bread we got was good, no complaints there, fresh warm and good flavor. When placing our order, two more orders came after us, and for some reason, theirs were served before ours. Even after trying to get the attention of the girl up front ( which kept flirting with the cooks, hence she couldn't pay attention), to ask how much longer it would be, she gave us a nod and went to check a few minutes after the food came out, maybe it was sitting for a while and it's why it was not hot.The last thing that I would point out is the cleanliness of the place. The tables need a good wipe down after each customer we had to clean ours before we sat down. The environment is a bit hectic with it being in UCI town

I have this chance to try this restaurant for the first time before Norouz celebration. The restaurant was clean. The cashier was so nice. She took my order correctly. I ordered lamb head (it comes with tongue & 2 slice of lemon & onion & 2 breads), and everything was great. The food taste was great. It was hot. The price was reasonable. They have a calm, peaceful patio.also the front area was nice. The only negative point was bread. Outside of the bread was not well cooked.I'll go with 4 stars.

Here at so called Hen Grill, I encounter with a horribly rude and unprofessional mankind that I have never seen in my entire life before (not sure he was the owner or an employee, but he was acting like an owner).Went with my family and a friend’s family for a dinner yesterday and at some point, I noticed that my daughter (8 years old) and my friend’s child (4 years old) got 3 of those small disposable cups (picture attached) filled with soda. (I usually do not give soda to my children). Upon noticed, I told my friend that I will take care of it at the time we finished with our food. While we were eating our food, that guy rushed to us in a manner that we thought wanted to warn us for an emergency and with a very ugly attitude and frowning face pointed at us and loudly shouted “Hey, drink is not free come to the front and pay” and then quickly turned his back and went to front. All customers there were shocked, and I had the worst feeling. After done with my food, I saw him at the front desk and first gave him my credit card to get charged then told him I apologize for the mistake kids did (however they put those little cups next to the soda machine that people may think ok to get some as some of the Mediterranean restaurants do or these people here doing this knowingly to charge the customers later unfairly with a sky high price, by saying unfairly I mean it see the picture attached he charged me $ 16.25 for 3 little soda cups which all are not more than 1 cup of those at fast food restaurants usually cost you below $1.00) and also told him that the way he approached and addressed the issue was totally unacceptable. Despite of this, the guy continued being rude at the same level and even told me in front of my kids that if it was an American owned restaurant, they would call the police (for God sake, tell me he was totally wrong tell me if it was an American owned restaurant someone would approach friendly with a smiley face and the apparent issue would have been addressed in a proper manner, and would definitely appreciate me being a customer ordered and order $ 96.72 in value). As I saw a lot of reviews showing customers dissatisfactions over similar issues and if you agree with me do what I do (reporting to better business bureau).P.s.In general price was higher than similar restaurantsThe restaurant wasn’t clean. The bread was not cooked well, and price was high for those small bread (see the picture)No customer serviceThanks.

Very bad experience, not a single good employee I ordered my food. Waiting over an hour while everyone else got their food, I confronted the employees yet they claim they forgot my order.

Absolutely rude behavior by an arrogant cashier. We entered the restaurant at 11:27pm. He said that he will close today at 12am even though the website stated that they close at 2am. That is ok to close early. However; when we entered at 11:27pm, he refused to take our order because it will him 15 minutes to cook and he was afraid that we will not finish by 12am. I told him that just put the order in and we will finish in 15 minutes and leave before 12am. He said no. Terrible. There are other cashiers at this place, who are nice, but not this one. We left the restaurant and went to Cafe America & Hookah Lounge which also closes its kitchen at 12am. We reached there at 11:55pm, they still took our order and now we are eating a delicious dinner. If you want good service along with good food, I don’t recommend HenHouse Grill. There are many better places now.
