I have visited JJ Bakery Irvine over a decade. I love their Traditional Taiwanese breads , pastries and sweets. Here are a few items that I would recommend (in pic order)
1. Egg Tart: I always purchase two egg tarts when I have the chance. But, it got sold out quickly.
2.Taro Pastry: Real taro paste, not too sweet. It is very delicious
3. Custard Bread: One of the traditional Taiwanese breads.
4. Scallion Bread: It is savory. Sometimes, I like savory breakfast.
5. Flan: Flan is located at the refrigerator near the entrance. It is dense instead of watery. I love it.
6. Almond Cookie:Perfect snack while I am watching Netflix.( It won’t last 20 minutes though)

Chinese style pastries. Everything I got was delicious. This is my favorite place to buy the Pork Sung Bun, and the egg tarts and BBQ Pork Bun are really good here too. I prefer coming here over 85° for the baked goods.

My wife was going to order New Year products from this store, but we were too far away to pay on site. They strongly asked my wife to leave her bank card number. Having experienced bank card theft before, she was certainly not willing to leave her credit card on her mobile phone. However, they were unwilling to forcefully ask my wife to leave her credit card, which made my wife particularly panicked. I suggested that she leave my phone number, but the female shopkeeper still refused. My wife told her that she could pay zelle or venmo to her or her staff and they would pay for us. As a result, she and her employees said that none of them had a transfer account. At this point I suspect they hire illegal students. The whole store is very rude and disgusting. I don’t want to trust the customer’s store at all🤮🤮🤮🤮

They do not accept American Express (Amex) credit cards as a payment method at this time.

The bakery serves classic chinese-style baked goods, such as pork floss buns or taro flaky pastry. Its a great place. This review is mostly to bring attention that the attached cafe has two updates:
1. it is open from 11 AM to 4 PM, and closed on wednesdays unlike the main bakery.
2. Starting 7/1/2024, the cafe will no longer serve meals.
This is really unfortunate since the meals were great, but it makes sense given the traffic was not high (theres a place in the same plaza that serves similar cuisine.)

You have the try the ham and egg sandwich here. My mom use to buy it for me all time when I was in high school. It’s in the fridge section.

If there is a JJ Bakery in the area, then it means you will have an awesome time browsing through all the pastries, bread options and delicious desserts. Some people might be overwhelmed but the items are so affordable that you can come get a bunch of options and not burn a whole in your wallet. We always come for the egg custard tart, also known as the Daan tat. We’ve ordered birthday cakes from this place so many times we lost count. This place is awesome.
Got an assortment of buns. Not sure how fresh they were but they were serviceable. The coconut bun we probably our favorite. The egg flan was pretty good too.

First meal in Irvine 20 years ago was the sausage fried rice here. Just got it again. Flavors are consistent and nourishing every time.

The baked goods taste great. The cashier was very rude however. He couldn't look me in the eye when communicating. Assumed that I was only in there for one thing. And I was patiently waiting for him to get off the phone, so that i may place my order. He gave off a “don’t bother me” attitude.
