This is Japanese cuisine's equivalent of a knockoff kimono: flashy from afar, fraying at the seams up close. One star only for the heat lamps; they at least kept the chill of disappointment at bay.Would I return? Not even for a free bento box.

Robata Wasa is one of the best Japanese spots I’ve tried. The rolls were fresh and flavorful, the Makunouchi Deluxe Bento and Beef Don were both unforgettable, and the Shiitake Mushroom Salad was such a unique touch. Add in their delicious drinks, cozy modern vibe, and friendly service, this place is definitely a must-visit!

Sat on the outdoor bar seat for one. Ordered a draft beer and got one. When the barman asked me if I wanted food, I said “I’ll order food in a little bit”.

Barman came back to me about 45 minutes later while I got to see others sitting on the bar inside, who came 10 minutes after I’ve arrived, already enjoying their food.

What is this service? Are people sitting outside supposed to call the barman??? I don’t understand this restaurant policy, if it even is one!!!

I’ve been to this restaurant several times in the past 10 years, and this is my first night on the bar seat. Never again!!! Willing to forgive due to normally otherwise decent service, but this was an annoying experience!

Robata Wasa is hands down one of the best sushi spots l've been to. Their sushi is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The standout for me was definitely the crispy lobster roll which was perfectly balanced with a crunch that makes every bite unforgettable. I also tried their matcha latte martini, and it was honestly to die for and it was such a unique pairing with sushi. The atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and the service is friendly and attentive. Definitely a go-to if you're craving amazing sushi and creative drinks!

Loved the food and the interior of the place Highlights of our visit included the Yellowtail Jalapeño, Chirashi Bowl, the Makunouchi Bento (featuring salmon, chicken, egg, and a variety of sides), and Albacore Sashimi. The only thing from me is that it was a little pricey for sashimi dishes we tried. Other than that, it’s a great restaurant at Irvine Spectrum.

I tried Robata Wasa for the first time and it was such a great experience! The sushi was delicious and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. The atmosphere was inviting and the service was very attentive - I’m looking forward to coming back!

Phenomenal sushi! The fish is like butter that just melts in your mouth, so fresh and delicious. Prices are really reasonable for the quality it gets you. Some inventive menu items, good service, nice ambiance. Checked every box.

The WORST service I’ve ever had. I went to the restaurant with my toddler for dinner. She was pretty hungry and the restaurant didn't seem too busy, so we went. We were told that the wait is 10 mins, but ended up waiting for almost 20 mins to get seated. When we sat down, I wasn't going to eat, but still ordered a full $40 entree and told him we're going to share. After another 25 mins of waiting for our food, I asked the server for the status of our order. The response I got from my waiter was unreal. Without any apologies or anything, he said there are people waiting for their food for over an hour and there are 15 tickets in front of us, so we should wait for another 35 mins of wait. To simply put, there were several tables empty when we were seated, so I don't understand how there were 15 tickets ahead of us, when the sushi bar probably has separate tickets from the kitchen. And there were tables getting food that were seated after us. I get that the food is not that great here, so they are not used to dealing with customers, but this is going to be another reason why they will never see all of their tables full. I spoke to the manager and he did apologize but that will never change my mind of coming back here.

We come here often because it’s a dog friendly restaurant outside the patio. We love to take our fur baby here. Closer to home. And we can walk around after for digestion since it’s located in Irvine Spectrum like an outdoors mall with many restaurants, shops. They offer happy hour but drinks only and from Monday to Thurs.
