Amazing place! High quality fish, great dishes, amazing value for money! The nigiri salmon was awesome, and in a very reasonable price. Highly recommended place.

-I came here when I'm craving for Hotate and Engawa, these two ingredients are the best which nowhere else can beat them with this price!!
-The rest of the ingredients are decent.

I saw a Yelp friend post a photo from Waka Sakura in Irvine, the food looked beautiful and delicious, so I decided to check it out myself.
The restaurant was clean The servers were attentive, explained the process, and pointed out the call button in case we needed help. Ordering was easy and self explanatory using the tablet, and you can also order on your phone. You’re allowed to order six items at a time, and the food came out pretty quickly.
The fish tasted fresh, not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely above average. That said, the portion sizes were really small. Honestly, I felt like I’d need to eat the whole menu just to feel full. For the price, it felt a bit expensive for what you get. The only dish I felt was worth the money was the Assorted Sashimi $15.99 good value .
We ended up waiting around 90 minutes to be seated, which set high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the wait. The conveyor belt service felt impersonal, and there wasn’t much interaction from the staff, which made the overall experience feel underwhelming.
There were plenty of parking spaces available when I visited!
Three people were having dinner and sake for $300, and then they suddenly came in and told us that the 90-minute meal time was a restaurant policy and we had to leave. It was absurd that they suddenly told us to leave without even informing us before ordering sake.

Conveyor belt sushi. Fast delivery. Order from a tablet. Rice is made with red vinegar. Tastes amazing. Fresh. Much better than Kura.

New revolving sushi place next to the new Tokyo Central. Priced in the higher end in revolving sushi places. Came in 3PM so no wait. Respectful sushi rice and wasabi. Fresh uni, fresh Aji, which is rare. Love the seared Engawa sushi too.

There was a 90 minute wait for what turned out to be conveyor belt service. Wish I could say the wait was worth it, but the food and little service provided subpar. Won't be back.

Super slow - came before opening and signed up for the waitlist. At opening they process the waitlist in order one at a time with a 15 minute grace period per group. It’s just so inefficient - when the restaurant is completely empty why not at least do it in batches.
It’s crazy for the restaurant to still be half empty 50 minutes after opening and only like 10 groups have been processed.
Food is good but honestly just not worth it for an hour wait, let alone two. This is the wait I expect for a premium sushi spot not a more casual one. Would not come back until they figure out how to process their lines more effectively.
Seared Engawa is fire tho.
Edit: have been back and the last wait was a lot shorter, bumped up to 4 stars.

We only waited 25 minutes. It’s fresh and the balance between the rice and fish in sushi was ok. We will definitely go again. I do love the sweetness of the rice was not too sweet as well.
If you want good sushi with modern service. This is the Place to be.

I recently visited this sushi restaurant and was really impressed by the quality of their dishes. The scallop nigiri I tried was fresh, tender, and had that natural sweetness you look for in premium scallops. Each piece was carefully prepared – some topped with a touch of sauce or a light sear, adding just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the scallop itself.
The plating was simple but elegant, letting the freshness of the seafood shine. The rice was seasoned well, with the right balance of vinegar, and it held together perfectly without being too dense.
Service was attentive and quick, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and inviting – the kind of place you can enjoy both a casual dinner or a special night out.
