Delicious starters (pork belly n dumplings) to entrees (ribs n skirt steak)Service was great, small space but love the plating being done just outside of the kitchen. Great entertainment

Fries were very bland, burger was okay at best but could’ve definitely used more seasoning. The person I was with said the Cobb salad was good

April 15, 2023We were the only interracial party at the dinner and we were seated outside in the cold with no service and no heat.We used to love Bistro49 and wanted to share with our friends. We made reservations a month in advance. When we arrived there was seating inside and out. For some unknown reason that was never explained we were seated outside at a table with a dirty tablecloth. The party after us in line was invited inside. When we asked why we were not offered a seat inside, the hostess rolled her eyes and told us “the decision was made already” and she did not know why. No apology. And the heaters were not working - no propane. It was about 58f.We ordered and waited for over an hour and a half for our dinner to arrive. In the cold. Meanwhile the couples who arrived after us received dinner and dessert. Also, they were invited inside away from the cold. After about 90 minutes of drinking cold water with absolutely no attention from waitstaff, we got up to leave. The hostess ran over and told us we would be “forbidden from entering the restaurant again”We were targeted because we were an interracial group.Sorry Chef - we know you worked hard to build this business and we have been there before and enjoyed your good. This service will destroy the restaurant. Regardless of how good your food is.

The quality of the food was far higher than I was expecting. The dumplings (gnocchi) were transcendent. One of those experiences where you stop eating and laugh out loud because the flavor is so spectacular. The waitress (Vanessa) was fantastic as well. Very knowledgeable about the menu and area in general (she is a local). She helped us pair our meal with some great red blends that matched our taste and overall made the dining experience very pleasurable. Will be coming back to this place in the future and definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Sutter Creek.

Been to this bistro a few times, the first time ordered the Reuben with fries and it was extraordinary! The 2nd time tried pasta with tomato and capers, was NOT good! Way overpowering tomato paste flavor. Returned a third time and ordered the Reuben since I loved it previously. So disappointed! The quality and consistency compared to the previous visit was way off, used cheddar instead of swiss and way too much sauce, made the sandwich soggy! Fries were different cut, just not the same. Nothing worse than not being able to depend on consistency with a menu item. I heard they lost one of their chefs, maybe that's the reason for the lack of consistency. Won't return again.

Coming to this restaurant, for a comfort food, it's a great idea! Stopping by, know to expect a professional service and casual atmosphere. Do you like to go out with friends for a drink? Take a lover to a lunch date? Have the whole family taste memorable meals? The eats are top notch, and I think you will enjoy.Kid-friendliness: The customer service accommodates children, with consideration. The waitresses love a family presence.

Booked it based on reviews. Pros: imaginative food, prepared well, mostly, and lovely presentation. Cons: it took 30 minutes between appetizers and entrees. Everyone else was served slowly. I had the short ribs, delicious and not too heavy, he had the pepper steak which was ordered medium rare and came out (late and cold) rare and bloody. We wanted dessert but knew it would be another 30 minutes. We were there on a Friday night and it was jammed, which partly explains the slow service. They did comp us the steak when my husband let them know.

Had a special dinner last night at the Bistro. Started with the Mushroom appetizer on a bed of puréed peas and Wow was that good. I had the killer lamb chops and my husband had the gumbo. My lamb was perfect and my husband gumbo was beyond delicious! Chefs KC and Rodney have definitely outdone themselves with their new place and we are impressed. We are well traveled gourmet foodies so you can count on our reviews.

Went there the other night for the first time and it was amazing! The food was delicious, our server was so helpful and friendly. It was a pleasant experience that I am very happy I could have with my SO. Thank you!

I was tasked to find the Saturday night dinner spot for 6 during our weekend wine adventure. I highly recommend reservations. There's a large covered patio for outside seating, the inside seating maybe 10 tables. Currently dinner service is Friday and Saturday nights. We took a 6:45 time to give up time to finish our day in the wine country. We arrived 30 minutes early but couldn't be seated until our time. Perfectly fine, we wandered a few nearby shops. There isn't a full bar that I saw. But they sell local wines. One of our stops offered to "write us a note" that would wave the corkage fee. But we chose to just purchase two more bottles for dinner. Menu changes for the seasons, and it had just switched to fall. Southern bites- we all thought down south, Georgia, Alabama. But thinks but further south, the Caribbean. So Caribbean spices with local meats and vegetables. We share the appetizers- jerked chicken bites and dumplings. Then each ordered their main, but the plates went around the table to sample each other's. Wow. Check out the pictures. The lamb was a perfect medium rare and SO tender. Pork juicy and tender. Salmon flaky. Mushroom bourguignon full of flavor and hearty. Skirt steak a nice medium rare and spiced. The fall root vegetable sides were all savory and delicious. The dessert menu looked great but we were full enough and had to pass. We were able to thank the chef of our way out for our devine meals. And the next day everyone was still talking about how fabulous the bistro was. Definitely on the list for all future visits. Tight street parking, a shared lot across the street. But a two block walk for us from our air bnb. Absolutely yes !!

Well, unfortunately, I must rate this local restaurant exceptionally low. The building and location is beautiful, the food looked moderately decent, but since the service was atrocious we didn't stay for a meal. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and we were told we had to wait. So we waited next to the cash register, and at exactly 6pm (which was our reservation time) a line started to form. We didn't think much about it since we had already checked in, but then people began to be seated before us, even though we waited. When we asked about our reservation, we were told we had to wait in line. So we waited, AGAIN. Finally we were seated, and proceeded to wait another 30 minutes before being served water, but no menu. After 50 MINUTES, we started to get up to leave when the wait staff came around with a menu, at which point we said we were leaving. So, we were passed over for our reservation, waited nearly an hour before being offered a menu, and then left. As I said, unfortunately, it was a horrible experience and we have no plans to return.

It is very hard to rate this place. First, the food is excellent! If that were the only criteria, it would be 5 stars. But....you should not have a 6:00 reservation and have to wait 40 minutes. The staff is VERY nice and apologetic...I got the sense they are use to doing this. The wine list is ok, but they use glasses you get for free at a wine tasting...ours was from Harrahs. It was cold outside as we had to wait and the very nice young woman had jackets and blankets to share....not sure if they were clean, but we asked about heaters and she said there was not any propane to heat them.... The gumbo was very good, though my wife's salmon was very dry. She had this several times before and it was very good. By 7:40 the place was 90% empty and tables were being cleaned for tomorrow.....not sure what that is all about. So, service was great , food very good, but I hope they fix a few things that are easy to fix.

I've lived in the area for the past 18 months and this is the first time I've had the good fortune to experience Bistro49. The place really is as good as the reviews indicate. Exceptional food, relaxing setting and excellent friendly service. I moved here from NYC and would equate the overall quality and dining experience at Bistro49 to many of my favorites there. Looking forward to returning.

It was our first time dinning here and with no reservation but they were able to accomodate our party of four. They have a cozy atmosphere and the food was so good. A little bit pricey but its worth it IMO!

Maybe the food is great, but they are almost impossible to make a reservation for for more than 4 people. I called, left 3 different messages, emailed them, AND even sent snail mail requesting a reservation for 6 over a month in advance. Finally, after several weeks, I got an email. It said one word...."confirmed" with no time or any other details. Apparently, they don't need my business.
