Why have posted hours if you don’t abide by them? Shut up at 11 AM on Sunday to find a place completely closed up. Boooo…

Millie :D

It was a tiny cute place with delicious food!!! I had their “Capo” sandwich, with mayo + mustard + spices and then some lettuce and pickles and oh it was so good!!! Every single item my family had was delicious! (Plus their homemade cookies, they’re as big as your palm and sooooooo good)
The only down side is they take a bit to make :(
But as long as you can wait just an extra 15-20 minutes for a sandwich GO!!! SO YUMMY!!! :D

Checked out this place finally, and I couldn’t be more grateful I did! I was able to meet the owner, and they were very friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. I ordered a meatball sub, to which they were almost out but the owner went and got the last one for me. The meatballs were very filling, sauce was flavorful, and the bread was sturdy but soft. I also snagged a mini peach cheesecake, it was so good I wish I got a full one. There was a 15-20 minute wait time, but it is more than worth the wait because you can taste the love!! I also have to mention how affordable it is, 6” sandwich + desert was $16.47! Don’t skip out on this place when you’re craving a good sandwich or sweet treat!

Enjoyed the best sandwiches here before exploring all the town of Julian. Also picked up delicious home made jam and amazing cheesecake (in a generous cup) with fresh fruit. Definitely my next 1st stop in Julian.

I don't want to do a review like this, but I think they need this feedback. I called in to make an order. The man who answered sounded disinterested to slightly irritated that I was calling in. Very definitely not friendly or helpful. If they were going for a New York/New Jersey 'yeah, waddya want' vibe tho, they nailed it...

I asked for a meatball sandwich, and was informed pretty matter of factly that they had no meatballs today, with a prefunctory apology after. This is by far my favorite, and as good a meatball sandwich as I've had anywhere. Sadly, the last 3 times I've tried to order, they've been out. Also, the last time I ordered, they were out of the other item I wanted to order for someone else.

The food is very good, it's classic italian style deli decor, nicely executed. Staff is usually pretty helpful and pleasant. (At least they used to be) It's definitely worth checking out, and I may have just been unlucky the last few times I've tried to order. They're at least inconsistent at this point. They also definitely need to fix the food availability, and maybe the customer service.

I'm not giving up on this place, but I'm discouraged. The unavailability of what I want is a problem, and the attitude of the guy answering the phone did not encourage me to try again at another time, one little bit.

Note: I looked up the number to call, and the menu on Google maps. The menu section had the sandwich names, which are clever and fun, and the prices. There's no descriptions tho, and the names in most cases don't give much of a clue as to what the sandwich is. I'd be willing to bet there have been folks in a hurry who didnt want to go thru and ask what each sandwich actually is, and just looked elsewhere. It would also take a lot of time of the phone to describe each sandwich. You might want to update that.

If you come here wondering who Fat Anthony is, you probably won't see him. You will however, meet his cordial daughter who runs the place and you will get a FAT sandwich. I got the big meano. It was BIG if you know what I meano - sorry dad joke. Kind of reminded me of the grinders I'd get in Connecticut. Folks, if you want a good sandwich, made by good people, stop and order a Fat Anthony sub. It's worth it.

Hands down, BEST sandwich shop in Julian. I got a BLT on a roll, good size sandwich for 6in and the bread was soft too. Definitely hit the spot after doing a hike out here. I took a pic, but it doesn't do the sandwich justice, and excuse chewed part I was really hungry, lol.. Also military discount and the staff is very welcoming too. This is gonna be my sandwich spot from now on when I come to Julian.
