We stopped here after hiking and before getting some pie. I tried their Golden Apple Burger with a beyond patty swap. I was happy to see that they offered a vegetarian option. Their food is good! I was a little skeptical about having a burger with apple jelly but it was really tasty. We tried their fanta cream soda which was good. Everything does add up quickly though. They close early, so get here before 4p. And they have compostable take away containers.Vegetarian options: They can swap out a meat patty for a beyond burger patty

Golden Apple exudes historical charm, managed with care by an active owner. Despite the challenges of a small kitchen and occasional tourist behavior, the warm lunch experience is worth the wait. To secure a spot, arrive 15 minutes before opening, as the place quickly fills up, closing 45 minutes post-opening to manage the influx of orders. Keep in mind, this isn't your typical tourist hub; it's a historical gem with its unique pace and character.

Walked in the door and we were yelled at that the kitchen was closed and didn’t we see the sign?! Clearly not because I looked at signage on the door- which stated “Open”. Yelled at. All I wanted was a cup of tea and a pastry - which didn’t require the kitchen but after being treated so rudely there was no way we were going back.

the homemade biscuit was hard as a rock & cold as the weather. my sandwich was carefully crafted with a slice of kraft cheese... overly burned veggie patty, I had to scrape off the burned flakes off prior to eating. don't get the eggnog, it tasted like store bought, way way too thick so I didn't finish it. my cousin's bfast was decent, but mine was just inedible. other than that, service was great & the ambiance was alright.

Fast, simple, delicious. Owner was super friendly, we had the Bigfoot and an egg and cheese. Heard the Jam was out of the world, will have to try next time!

10 stars. The Golden Apple burger is one of the best I've ever had. The owners are extremely friendly. Even gave my wife a free mini apple pie for her birthday. We'd eat here every day if we didn't have to commute from SD.

I love visiting Julian. In the fall you can see the leaves changing color. Lots of trees in this little mountain town. Apple pie is one of the things Julian is best known for and I have been trying all the bakeries. This visit I tried the goodies at Golden Apple5 minutes. Alot can happen. A great tasting pie could become barely edible. I bought an mini apple pie. The crust was very hard and flaky. Some parts were very dried out while some parts were ok. The ok parts had a delicious buttery flavor. The filling was packed with apples. Sadly most of the syrup had evaporated so the inside was not full of juices. This pie was hard to eat. If the baker had taken it out of the oven maybe 5 minutes earlier this would have been a great tasting pie. I took a look at the bottom of the pie where you could see the crust was starting to look burnt and the filling juices had leaked and the liquid evaporated.Apple crumb mini pie had a very dry crust with a buttery flavor. Filling was moist but it looked like much of the liquid leaked out and evaporated. I'm guessing this pie was left in the oven 3 or 4 minutes too long. Sweetness from the sugary syrup was too concentrated due to the cookup and I didn't like the flavor.Apple cider donut had an amazing crumbly texture. I liked the sweet apple cider flavor.Owner was nice and provided good service. So far Golden Apple is my least favorite spot for pie.Other places I've visited are:Mom's Pie Househungryones.com/2022/02/m…Julian Cafe and Bakeryhungryones.com/2021/12/j…Julian Pie Companyhungryones.com/2021/12/j…Apple Alley Bakeryhungryones.com/2021/10/a…Rongbranch Cafehungryones.com/2022/05/r…Julian Beer Co.hungryones.com/2021/10/j…

The man behind the counter is an asshole. Maybe he's the owner, but either way his behaviour was atrocious. Our friends had gotten there before us and said they were backed up and it was another 10 minutes till kitchen opening. So we waited at the bottom of the steps, perused the menu, then as it got colder and windier, went up the stairs 5 minutes later. He said another 15 minutes. So we waited outside, then asked if could wait inside. At 7 months pregnant standing in the wind on the patio wasn't the kindest to my joints.Time goes by. Sounded like some employees hadn't shown up. When he said he was ready to take our orders, pregnancy brain had kicked in and I'd forgotten exactly what it was I'd wanted (it had also been about 25 minutes since I'd looked at the menu at this point). I looked at the menu at the counter and that's when he starts to berate me with how I should have been looking at the menu the whole time. I said it was some veggie scramble. He said they don't have any of that on the menu, and maybe I was looking at a different menu. I said it was the one at the bottom of the steps, so he goes, "well, show me, because it's the same menu." He proceeds to comment on the line of people behind me - it had been under 30 seconds at this point.I said "nevermind" and walked away, but I guess my husband felt bad so ordered something random anyway. I went back down the stairs to read the menu without the pressure of a man who can't wait 30 seconds berating me. He lied. There's scrambles on almost every single item on the menu, a side of scrambled eggs, a veggie toast breakfast with scramble, and a vegetarian biscuit with a scramble. Pretty much every breakfast item besides the vegan ones.Pregnancy food issues means whatever the random thing my husband ordered went to the dog. I never ate it, so I can't give the food a 1, but it doesn't deserve more stars than this. I wish we hadn't ordered anything from him at all.Yeah, it sucks when your day doesn't go according to plan. It sucks when other workers drop the ball and you gotta pick up the slack. If he was so worried about 30 seconds, he could have easily asked us to step aside and let the people behind us order until we figured things out. But no, he chose to be nasty.

A great experience at the Golden Apple! We found seating right away during Julian’s Apple Days. A total score. Cool music. Hardworking and friendly staff. It doesn’t get any better than the Golden Apple Burger. Sweet & savory perfection. They even threw in some complimentary baked goods. Mike Julian would be proud.

Lovely Julian eatery - we ate a yummy breakfast there just before they started serving off the lunch menu at noon.

Vegan options!!! So cute and the owner was a really cool dude.

Pretty much the only place we were able to find on Main St in Julian that allowed dogs and served breakfast food like eggs, toast, etc.
