This place is the best!

Very friendly staff! The winery is beautiful as well. We had a great time.

The setting is absolutely beautiful — peaceful vineyards framed by the mountain and golden light. Their Malbec and Syrah are standouts: smooth, rich, and full of character. You can tell there’s real craftsmanship in every pour.

Mel, the proprietor, is amazing — warm, welcoming, and so kind. You instantly feel like family when you arrive. The whole staff is friendly and relaxed, creating that wonderful mix of local charm and destination-worthy hospitality.

It’s dog- and kid-friendly, and you’re welcome to bring your own food, which makes it perfect for picnics. Locals come here regularly, and visitors quickly see why — it’s the kind of place where you want to linger and watch the sunset with another glass in hand.

If you’re anywhere near Julian, don’t miss this spot. Volcan Mountain Winery captures everything great about small-town California wine country.

​Today's wine tasting was a great surprise! I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I really enjoyed the wines and found myself craving a steak to go with them. It was the perfect, relaxing start to the weekend. Thank you!

Great winery. Love the winery, but mostly love the winery manager Mel! We always feel so welcomed. Over the years we have been members, the people here have become friends! Worth the drive to Julian, being winery club members has been a great excuse to get out of the city and spend the day out in nature drinking great wine.

Their Sangiovese alone is worth the trip ? Beautiful sitting area outside with the views of the vineyard, the orchard and the Volcan mountain as a backdrop. Both times we visited, there was a cool local food vendor just next to the winery/tasting room.

Fun place near Julian, California, to taste wine and meet people. Especially during apple-picking season in the Fall. The wine is hit or miss. Most are OK. A few are quite good. Menghini winery, an estate with a celebrated, old, track record, is also just around the corner.

Staff were so kind and the white wine was so great. I feel like everyone in Julian has been so kind to my wife and I!

After apple picking, we like to walk across the way to Volcan Mountain Winery to relax for a few minutes and enjoy a glass of their yummy apple wine. They usually have live music and food vendors with plenty of outdoor seating. Price for a glass is $9 and $28 for a whole bottle. We typically will enjoy a glass there and buy a couple of bottles to gift.

I want to start off by saying THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Last weekend our dog accidentally locked our baby in the car. The people of Volcan Mountain Winery were on top of it. Finding clothes hangers and other patrons to help and helping with the 911 call and offering all the supplies to help us in this time of need.I have always loved this winery as a quick day trip from San Diego over the years. This was our first time back after having recently moved back. They offer a great military discount as well. But after their helpfulness and hospitality when the worst scenario happens to a family they are 5 stars plus in our book!Thank you for your amazing wine and service!!
