Breakfast with a good vibe. Not anything stands out, pretty average dishes, but service is good, which is rare these days. French toast Syrup comes pre packaged like a dipping sauce. Seemed very fast food type. Ordered a Mexican omelette. They put salsa inside with what seemed a 1/2 cup of water. My omelette was in a puddle. Flavor was good

My first visit to Hill Street Cafe was underwhelming. Flavorless food prepared without personality or care and way overpriced. I ordered a BLT sandwich and it had no flavor, in fact it tasted like preservative. I couldn't tell if it was the bacon or the bread that was leaving a bad aftertaste so I opened up the sandwich to taste the bacon by itself and it was tough and looked like cardboard and did not taste like bacon. I was actually concerned about ingesting it. The bread was also oddly lacking in flavor, which is weird for butter-grilled sourdough. Maybe it wasn't butter? For the first time in my 63-year life, I told the waitress I did not care for the sandwich. Without argument she took it away and brought back the menu. I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad, and it too lacked flavor. It was clearly pre-shredded lettuce, canned chicken, a few sliced almonds and literally only 3 wedges of mandarin orange. Far from being worth $21.

Once a tiny corner cafe 25 years ago, seating maybe 20 people if that.

HSC has grown to be a large local town favorite for food, atmosphere and service.

All menu items from Breakfast to Dinner are consistently as fresh and of the highest quality as they were 25 years ago.

Hill Street Cafe is an excellent restaurant. The menu has so many food options that it would be impossible not to find exactly what you are craving. The best reduced cost of senior selections too. Extensive wine list. Great wait staff. Not inexpensive but very good ?
Highly recommend!

I use to love coming here but last time I went, the menu prices were ridiculously too high. The food quality was also not the same. It wasn’t that busy like it used to be. So unfortunate.

I first went here 10 years ago during JPL open house and had the largest salad I've ever been served in my entire life. imagine a mixing bowl and then mounding over the top is pounds and pounds of Cobb salad. all this for under $20.

I told my wife this place was even better than J Nichols, another Applebee's+ spot in Marina del Rey. you can come in here and have a martini, a steak, a club sandwich, peanut butter and jelly, bowl of cereal, or just rye toast with butter. AND the service is fantastic, plenty of parking, there's nothing bad to say about Hill St. Café, see you there.

I always try to support my local diners but this place has consistently been horrible with its breakfast service. First, very expensive with what you get (chain diner quality food), always cold hot food(is the actual breakfast made to order or do they have a buffet style in the kitchen and grab then the already made eggs, French toast, bacon then serve it? Why is the hot food always room temperature? The staff is usually good but this place has gone down in years. Too bad because not many diner style places in the area. Hey Hill Street!
