We really wanted to like this place, but the noise level was beyond anything I've ever experienced before in a restaurant or bar. It was absolutely annoying and completely ruined our meal. The owners seriously need to address the acoustics of their business. We will NOT be back. On a separate note, the physical ambiance is nice and our server Jose did a great job.
Excellent venue, great vibe, delicious and hearty meals, great drins, awesome service. Our waiter was very accommodating, professional and friendly. Glad to be back and will return soon!

We had a great waiter taking care of us - Connor. He was very attentive and really easy to work with since we had a larger party and were doing something more casual like drinks and appetizers. Diego help set us up for success and it was a great time had by all.

Took a chance on this place, and it was amazing. The ambiance was romantic and classy. Each dish was unique and delicious and the customer service was on top of it. It was my husbands birthday so we had a party of 10 and the staff took care of everything including set up and bringing out, cutting and serving the cake. The owner of the restaurant came out to say hello to everyone in our party. Class Act. It is smaller than you would think but if you go with a party no larger than 10 you should be fine, and I thought it was cozy. I will def be back!

The Espresso Martini is amazing. We got the bolognese papardelle pasta which wasn't my favorite dish thus far. It was bit gamey and not flavorful enough. But other dishes we have loved. The deviled eggs the burgers and chicken sandwiche everyone loved. The French Dip is always good.

Hope gave us great service in addition to getting us my favorite table at the restaurant. We were there for our Anniversary and, as usual, the food was delicious and the ambience just right. The consistency at The Proper is one reason why it is one of my favorites!
Our table of 4 had the salmon special (2), the JPL Rocket salad with added salmon and the truffle chicken. We all really enjoyed our entrees. The starters were also good- tortilla soup and the Caesar salad. I loved the warm butter cake and my husband enjoyed the lemon cake. Our server was very personable and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. It was a little loud but everyone there was obviously enjoying themselves. It was a really nice experience and I recommend it.

Amazing place, love everything about it. The food and drinks were awesome and delicious ?. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday, he was amazed and felt very special. Great service and vibe! Definitely will come back ?

FOOD: Portions are small. I ordered the short rib pappardelle, and it was salt ball! My friend ordered the short rib sandwich and hardly any short rib in it. My other party ordered the chicken piccata and again, small portion for the price. SERVICE: the lady kept asking us to clear our starter plate for like 5x, so annoying.

In general we like The Proper but there seems always to be one problem, either the food is cold, the restaurant itself is freezing ( in summer time) or we get a tiny ,tiny table cramped in a corner with a neighboring customer sitting on top of our table eating his food, we reserved a table and hoped that would make a difference but it did not. The employees are always very helpful to change and rectify but why do these silly problems come up? Also a change of menu items would be nice after these 3/4 years.
My wife and I love this place!!! The food is amazing, the staff is great, but the small tables are ridiculous small. If it's busy, it will be loud. Even with those issues, we will still keep coming back.

The tables were so close together it was literally like you were eating with the people next to you, which was not desirable for Valentine's Day. Food was ok. Extremely overpriced. We ordered the egg roll appetizer which is essentially two egg rolls cut into four pieces for $19. Would give our experience a 4/10.

I recently moved to the area and this was our first time at The Proper Restaurant but it most certainly won't be our last. Everything ... and I mean everything was excellent! I started out with the Proper Clover Club cocktail and it was so refreshing and delicious. My husband and I then shared the white chicken chili which was equally delicious. For our entrees, my husband ordered the miso salmon which was out of this world and I got the chicken piccata. The chicken was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded and the pasta was tossed in a wonderful lemonny piccata. I also had a Malbec which was so smooth, I wanted to order the whole bottle (but alas, I did not). And since everything else was so good, we couldn't leave without ordering dessert -- the warm butter toffee cake. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. I can't wait to go back to The Proper Restaurant!
