Second time coming here. It's ok. Nothing special. Coffee shop food. I was wanting some hot soup and the only soup they had was chicken tortilla, one of my favorites. Their soup was terrible! It literally was a a red broth with shredded chicken pieces, raw onions, freshly cut tomatoes, and a dab of cheese. They definitely did not make this soup hours ago and let it cook down to be soup. Came for dinner last year and the it was fun food. Like old school cheap continental fare. I happen to be fond of that kind of thing. Today, my gf wanted to come for breakfast. First thing we noticed was that the place is freezing inside. When the food came.... it was bad. I had the "big breakfast" with bacon that looked like it was deep fried to a crisp beyond palatable. Magpie's is one of those places that doesn't stand out. It's just a nice comfortable place to go for a good meal and relaxing atmosphere. Prices are fair, comfort food, friendly staff. They also have a bar, although I've never ordered an alcoholic drink there.
