Small delicatessen. Enjoyed my hot pastrami on rye. The potato salad and pickles were delicious. Service was excellent. Nice to have this deli in our neighborhood. Lots sandwich and other dishes available. Beer available. Will definitely visit again in future.

The food is good clean fresh and let’s talk deserts omg! Their cheesecake is the best around. Its fluffy and not heavy and doesn’t taste like cream cheese in a heavy graham cracker crust like everyone else. Has a fluffy slight lemony texture very thin crust . Their peach streudel was again fresh light without a ton of sugar and fillers unlike store bought streudel .German authentic small business in California . A rare find.. I’ll be back.

The best German food. Their sausages are second to none. The sausages are usually paired with sauerkraut and their famous potato salad and some rye bread. All must haves. Their sandwiches are good too. Do yourself a favor and come in and pair your dish with their house made spicy mustard and a pint of Hofbrau. Oh and if you visit during December they have their weekly specials for the holidays that are can't miss. An absolute gem.

A flippin’ fantastic German experience. Come for the beers, the cheers, and the camaraderie while watching your favorite football club. They’ve got an extensive German beer list and the food is always yummy. Probably one of the best parts is there is a large group of regulars that are always having a great time there. There needs to be more German restaurants and it seems like there are already less and less than before. If you haven’t already, come check out this place. You won’t regret it.

The food is generally light, clean, and not too strong in flavor, which feels healthy. But since I’m not very used to this type of cuisine, it felt a bit too simple and didn’t really make me feel full. Still, it’s a good experience to try it as part of enjoying the variety of foods the world has to offer.

4.5/5 A Slice of Germany: Continental Delicatessen's Liverwurst Sandwich in La Habra

Tucked away at 1510 W Imperial Hwy in La Habra, Continental Delicatessen has been a family-owned gem since 1963, dishing out authentic German flavors that transport you straight to Bavaria. On a recent lunch run, I zeroed in on their fresh liverwurst sandwich on a French roll—a $12.75 steal that punches way above its weight.

The star is the liverwurst itself: creamy, soft, and impossibly smooth, with a rich, savory depth from pork liver blended with spices that whisper of old-world tradition. It's not gamey or overpowering—just pure, velvety indulgence that spreads effortlessly. Layered with crisp lettuce, ripe tomato slices, and a whisper of mayo on a crusty-yet-yielding French roll, it strikes the perfect balance of textures: the bread's golden exterior cracks satisfyingly, while the interior soaks up every juicy bite without sogginess. At first nibble, the mild earthiness blooms, evolving into a comforting, almost nostalgic warmth that's fresh-made daily.

Pair it with their legendary potato salad—shredded, tangy, and addictive—for the full effect, but it's not my flavor profile. I wish the German chocolate cake was better.

The vibe? Cozy and unpretentious, with quick service from the friendly Monica and shelves stocked with imported jars of sauerkraut and mustards.

In a world of fast-food fades, this sandwich is a tasty reminder of why delis endure. If you're craving something hearty yet refined, Continental delivers—soft, satisfying, and utterly craveable. Five forks up!

I ordered the #1 Knackwurst and my bf got the #4 Wiesswurst. We wanted to try as much of the sides as we could, so we swapped out for the red cabbage and the special potato salad. So good.
The server was attentive, courteous, and quick, even with the football game on. Our food came out pretty quick too, with maybe 7 other people there. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere for us (I have bright dyed hair).
Oh, and the beer is fantastic.
I highly recommend this place for authentic German food.

I love to eat at this authentic German deli, where it feels like my aunt is cooking and serving me! ❤️ If you haven't been, you should go. I have enjoyed the schnitzel and the bratwurst. Delicious.

I was hoping to find a good deli pastrami sandwich but i chose the Reuben instead. The craftsmanship on this sandwich was old school simple and it was delicious. The german potato salad was interesting good. Will go back to try the pastrami. They also have a sit down restaurant area that i will also be back to try!
