I love Korean Fried Chicken! And I do love Chicken Wings!Chrispy Chicken n'Tomato is a successful chain throughout and Asian and America, with three locations in San Diego. No matter what sauce you pick, the crispy breading is thick and stays hot, and doesn't seem get soggy! Love it! What I don't love are the prices, which seem rather high at $29 for 16 wings, or $15.50 for 8 wings.
I've tried three flavors so far:
Black Agilio: Dark Soy and Garlic, my favorite!
Honey Butter: exactly how it sounds, yum.
Cheese Snow: a unique cheese generously sprinkled over the wings, delicious! The Parmesan cheese of Korea?
$8 French Fires: Generic, good, and large portion enough for 2-3 people.
$10 Cheese Balls: the fried mozzerlla sticks of Korea? They're okay, seemed a bit pricy for what we got.
There was only one person working that Saturday afternoon, someone must have called in sick? Poor guy was taking ordres, cooking, busing, and cleaning! Otherwise he did a great job!

Update: Never received a call and I had to figure things out with my credit card company. Very disappointing experience. Prior to contacting my credit card company, I had also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and guess what? Crispy Chicken n Tomato in La Jolla never responded!! Very disappointing and very unprofessional. Beware if you place an online order!
Original post:
If only 0 stars was an option. On 8/4 a Sunday evening, I placed an online order as a guest for a whole chicken. About 10 minutes later, I received a phone call from Cristy that they do not have whole chicken and would I be willing to substitute it with chicken wings. I said no and that I would like to cancel my order. She said that I needed to go online to cancel it. I told her how would that be possible if I placed the order as a guest. While I had her on the phone, I proceeded to navigate the website and there was no way for me to cancel my order if I placed an online order. She then says she doesn't know what to do because this has never happened before. I told her that I would come to the store so that we can work it out in person so that I can get a refund to my credit card. I arrive and she explains me to me that she cannot refund me in person and that the only way is to have it done on the Crispy Chicken n Tomato website where I placed the online order. While I was there, she received a call back from her manager and she explained the situation to him. He informed her that the next day on 8/5/24, he would be to the website and issue a refund since he has the authority to do it. He stated he would also call me the next day on 8/5/24 to confirm that a refund has been issued. It is 8/7/24 and I have not received a refund and I have not received a phone call. I am still seeing a charge on my credit card for an online order place for services/product that has not been rendered. Disappointing experience to say the least. I have tried to call and left voicemails but I still have not received a resolution. Frustrating.

I mean, if you want to spend over $20 for a few OK chicken wings, and get charged another $1.50 for ranch this is the place for you. I won’t be back that’s for sure. Not when Calvin’s is around the corner and at least 100x better. I can see why this place was empty.

The flavoring of wings is a bit off. We were not able to finish them.

First time there and I was excited to try this place. The woman at the counter was horrible, unfriendly and very distracted. She was most likely the owner. It felt like we were inconveniencing her by walking in. No wonder no one was in there. Needless to say, we didn’t order, walked straight out and will never return. Don’t be in the food industry if you are going to be a rude, miserable human. My guess is they are doing badly and won’t be around much longer, especially with such bad attitudes. Do yourself a favor and go to the Kebab Shop next door. Completely different vibe, friendly, patient, they even let us try some hummus before we ordered. And the food is incredible.
Real Korean fried chicken is worth the price this place charges. This place does not merit those prices.

No crowded, very delicious Korean fried chicken. Out of the three or four places I tried in San Diego, this place is my favorite.

Love coming here! We come a few times a week but unfortunately one worker ruins the experience. I hate leaving reviews that aren't positive but she has the most attitude whenever we come in. She never puts the order in correctly when every other time we come it's always perfect. She has glasses and always has one airpod in her ear. We've been 3 times while she's working and had the same experience with her every time. Again we order the same thing everytime and she's the only one who gets it wrong. She is rude and we will hesitate to eat here again if we see her. She also charged us for a drink we didn't ask for and then didn't give us the cup.

Had this place in Japan before, and the La Jolla location is just as delicious. Try the boneless wings with jalapeño mayo and cheese balls!

I decided to try this place last night for dinner & I’m so glad I did! I ordered the 6 piece boneless combo (Chicken the Yori flavor) with rice and cheese balls and was in food heaven. The chicken was so tender and flavorful with the perfect crisp on the outside. And the cheese balls were delicious. The fried rice was okay, but everything else made up for it! Oh and the pickled radish on the side was so good with the right amount of crunch. Additionally, the store manager and guy at the register were so helpful in explaining the different flavors and the spice levels— both were very friendly. Definitely will be a return customer!
