If you’re on the UCSD campus and craving real Chinese food, this place is honestly a gem. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is warm and lively, and the employees make you feel welcome. What really stood out to me is that the owner himself walks around, talks to customers, checks in, and makes sure everyone is having a good time. It feels very welcoming.

And I have to say this, the Oreo boba here is my personal favourite!

Fried rice, chow mein, sesame chicken, and popcorn chicken are phenomenal. Pork belly was really good but the skin part is a bit chewy. Space inside is nice, they have lots of outlets if you want to study in there. Happy hour is a little misleading, it's the drinks and specific food items that are 30% off, not the buffet style part.

The portion sizes are not worth the price, and they often mess up orders. Also that boba is hit or miss.

It's been a while since I last visited Fan-Fan. The menu here has changed, and it feels a bit like Panda Express, probably to cater to foreign tastes. At noon, the place is crowded with people waiting in line—it almost feels like a Chinese canteen for international students. You grab a plate, choose your favorite dishes, and pay by weight. They also have bubble tea you can order. My meal cost 23, which isn’t exactly cheap but is acceptable. The bubble tea was nothing special, so you can skip it. The food was okay, but I still prefer the old Fan-Fan, which served more authentic Chinese dishes.

I’m pretty impressed that a restaurant inside the campus can be this delicious and authentic! I’m so happy for the Chinese students studying here because the food here really satisfies my Chinese stomach. They have a big varieties of Chinese foods including braised pork belly and roasted duck which are my favorites, they also have sweet sour pork and honey shrimps for more American Asian customers. Their drinks are pretty yummy and also reasonable prices. The staffs here are very friendly and the space is very clean, modern and comfortable. They have a large mural there to reflect UCSD campus, very artsy. I definitely recommend here if you are nearby.

Food is amazing and its always filled to the brim with international students (thats how you know its gonna be good). Love the self-served and weighted style and the rice is really cheap. Just wish the food was cheaper, expect to spend $18+ for a full meal and more if you want drinks or sides.

Food was not great, but was extremely spicy. Yet when I asked for tap water for the spice they said they were going to charge me?! Lost a customer.

The food is very expensive and of low quality. Meat pieces are full of fat and bones, and less than 25% of the meat is edible. Because they charge by weight you end up paying a lot for a small amount of food. I am surprised that UCSD endorses this food place.

Food was delicious. It's cafeteria style, so you can try lots of different things. A plate of food was about $17.
