Amazing selection and we love it! Rodrigo very knowledgeable and attentive to our table. We will definitely come back again when we are visiting San Diego! Kudos to Chef and Team!!
Michelle and Kayla were such a joy. They went out of their way and made the experience amazing. We did a bunch of sushi and sashimi based on their recommendations and it was seriously one of the most memorable sushi spots I've ever had. The yellowtail and yellowtail belly were the highlights.
IF you’re a sushi enthusiast I would highly recommend to skip this restaurant. The experience is mediocre at best for this price range. The owner is very energetic and friendly and service staff was very professional, but those are the only positives. I must say the fish quality and cuts were not very good at all.
I ordered Chirashi tokusen and my wife ordered a sushi platter. FIsh cutting was not clean with jagged edges, many pieces tasted bland or flavorless (either aged improperly or poor quality fish), chutoro was full of sinu, ikura was over marinated, crab leg meat were actually fishy and tasted “old”, portions were small. I upgraded to Hokkaido uni which tasted very good, but again for 16 dollars extra for 1 single piece I expected more generous portion for customers. OVerall I have the feeling that the restaurant is trying to squeeze profits rather than providing a great dining experience, especially with respect to the quality of the fish.
There is a mandatory 20% service fee which is not egregious for La jolla but why call it a tip at that point if it’s not optional and proportional to the service provided? Granted service for us was great and I would have tipped 20+% anyways, but having it mandatory I think is in bad taste, pretty much like a price hike on all items on the menu by 20%. If someone didn’t like the service I could imagine this being a bad situation. Perhaps the omakase could be better Judging from online photos but I won’t be returning to find out, especially at this price point.

First of all, the service is amazing and even more important the staff are friendly and considerate. I appreciate being seated earlier than my reservation. They definitely try to earn the required 20% tip, which I don't believe in. I say this everytime I see it: if you want your staff to have benefits, pay them more yourself.
The food was really good, but the portions were skimpy. I don't think I've seen a scallop cut into such thin layers to make a nigiri. I had 6 pieces and a negitoro handroll. The nodoguro, salmon belly, negitoro, and spiny lobster stood out. Although the lobster was one of the pieces that was just a sliver on rice. Great atmosphere for any occasion. I'd consider coming back for sure.

Food is amazing, chefs are amazing, waiter was very kind. However, the hostesses are rude, impatient and moody :(
Absolutely love this place! The customer service was amazing — everyone was so friendly and attentive. The food was incredible, super fresh, and full of flavor. The fish was top quality, and the lobster miso soup is our favorite — my family and I can't get enough of it! Highly recommend this sushi spot!
Super fresh and authentic. Im coming back for more

Fantastic experience all around. Came to celebrate our anniversary and were delighted. The Albacore sashimi and Himitsu roll were the highlights. Will absolutely return when we're back in the area.

The Himitsu team/family is amazing and they always go above and beyond to take care of the customers. I have never had a bad experience here and the food is far and beyond amazing!!! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for some of the best sushi in San Diego.
Himitsu has the best sushi in San Diego, I believe. On top of that, it has the best service from any casual restaurant in San Diego. We go there twice a month for date night and it always delivers!
An amazing Omakase experience with Chef Mitsu and his wonderfully accommodating staff. Looking forward to the next one!
Chef Himitsu is always amazing. This was a very special experience as we went for the Sunday special seating and the food was out of this world! We want to go every month for this!
Sushi's fish was good but not extraordinary for its price. What put me off was actually the rice part. I get that you may be trying to be creative and the rice seemed to contain some of the brown rice too. But the hardness of the rice was too hard and it did not match to fish. Also the rice part did not hold its shape and kept falling apart as I tried to eat sushi. The music was too loud at where we were seated so it was hard to hold conversation. The server was polite and cheerful. Very nice. But he simply had too many tables to take care of, and I had to wait for another glass of wine ordered for probably like 15 min. I felt bad for him. I would still probably mark three starts because the server guy was nice and food was OK but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations.
