I always visit Mandarin house right when the open. For some restaurant experiences this can be a dealbreaker. Not at Mandarin House!
Justin, who is always present at opening is consistently efficient, friendly, and overall just fantastic. Food wise, I'm never disappointed. Great and authentic cuisine and good bang for your buck.

OUTSTANDING!!! This is the absolute best Chinese food I have had since I moved to SD in '04! I grew up in the bay area and this rivals, if not surpasses, the Chinese restaurants up there! Excellent food, kudos and I'll definitely be back to enjoy more!!!

Been coming here for years. Since I was born really. We came in today for Christmas lunch. We were the first people in. We ordered the wonton soup , shrimp , Mongolian beef and chicken lomeign. The soup we returned as the shrimp was raw and was cold. The Mongolian beef had good flavor but came out cold , the lomeign was cold and really the only dish that was normal was the shrimp. After we returned the soup I told the waitress let the kitchen know food is ice cold. Didn’t seem to change the fact and everything kept coming out cold. For being the first person in the restaurant there is no excuse for food being this bad. What really was upsetting more than the food was the hostess asking my wife to move over mid breast feeding our new born so I just thought that was straight rude.

I really do not recommend dining here.
This place used to be good, but now it is absolutely awful.
We were the first customers in the restaurant on Christmas. We ordered soup and several other dishes. The soup arrived cold, and the shrimp was raw. All of the food was cold, and it was very clear that it had been reheated and not even properly.
The table was sticky, the glasses smelled bad, and the restrooms smelled like urine. Everything felt dirty and unhygienic.
A huge disappointment.

We had a large party of 30+ and they did amazing accommodating us! Everyone loved the food, my favorites were the Kung Pao Chicken and Walnut Shrimp but it was all so good. Staff was super attentive and was always there to help before we even had to ask. Would highly recommend!!

This establishment is a gem in La Jolla. The staff and owners are gracious and the food is amazing. Pungent shrimp, salt and pepper chicken, crispy beef and hot and sour soup are some of the must haves. Thank you for the decades of tradition and excellent food. We will always be back!

This our local go to Chinese restaurant in La Jolla. Sure it’s convenient, right up the street, but it very tasty and always consistent. I get takeout once once a week and I have never been disappointed. The egg rolls are crispy and tender, Kung Pao chicken is cooked perfect and has just the right amount of heat and my favorite is the broccoli and beef. I just love it. The staff is friendly the food is always waiting for me to pick it up and is piping hot when I walk down the hill to my place to eat it. Good job Mandarin House!

Just had an awesome meal at Mandarin House in La Jolla. Super flavorful, classic Chinese dishes done right everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. The whole vibe was relaxed but still felt special. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving solid Chinese food in the area. Also an amazing event space known for hosting birthdays, anniversaries, or anything celebratory!

Every time I stop by Mandarin House, the classics never fail. Lucky fried rice, Mandarin fried rice, war wonton soup, egg drop soup, lo mein, honey walnut shrimp, shrimp kew each dish hits just right. I’ll always come back and happily rotate through this amazing menu. It’s its own vibe and one I can’t get enough of!
