We live in the Shores and every so often we decide to give them a try --- again. And we always decide it's not worth going back. We had hope recently when we dined with another couple. Two chicken dishes and two veal dishes. Chicken was tough (they probably use poor quality) and the veal was just ok. That said, the dishes were all very bland, despite having some normally flavorful ingredients such as mushrooms, artichokes, capers, etc. Sorry, but it will be quite awhile before we give them another try. Seems they cater to tourists...and don't put much effort into what they serve.
Don't miss this outstanding Italian restaurant if you're in La Jolla. The food is authentic and excellent. The service is perfect, and it's a delightful space in which to enjoy a fabulous meal.
A wonderful evening spent with family and friends. Thank you for helping me to celebrate my husbands birthday.
Food was mediocre. Presentation and taste. Veg were like cafeteria food. Waiter killed a bug on the table with his finger and didn't change the paper tablecloth where there was a bloody bug carcass.
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the La Jolla area. Food is delicious and love the decor. This time we ate outdoors as we had our dog with us. Service was adequate even though we were off to the side and not n clear view of the wait staff. Love the Calamari/zucchini appetizer. We both had different veal dishes and they were delicious and ample. We are only in the area a few months each year but this is the first restaurant we go to when arriving.
Very good little local place. Quiet and not too busy.

Every time we come to La Jolla Shores we dine here. Reasonable prices for delicious food and plenty of it. Large menu to choose from. We sat on the patio, which is plenty warm with all the space heaters. Excellent service. They don't rush you. Prepare for free street parking as you might be a few blocks away. menu to choose from.
I can't recommend this restaurant enough! Delicious! Prices are incredible for the quality of service and food.

Good food. Poor customer service by owner and manager. What to expect as a lone woman and the owner is a man. What else can I say.

Beautiful spot, the service was great. I didn’t enjoy my Barramundi as much as I was hoping to - it was a special, but I am sure there are some other items on the menu that are great.

To start we waited awhile for a waiter. Then Simone, appeared and took such great care of us the rest of the night. The halibut, veal piccatta and spinach salad were all fresh, delicious and prepared perfectly. Highly recommend Osteria Romantica
food was good and came out quickly. Server did not tell us about any specials, maybe there weren't any, also didn't come by and check on us during the meal. Only came by at end of meal asking if we wanted dessert. Overall I would still go again.

Lovely spot with a broad menu and nice wine list...food was decent but not great, and service lacking (tho' this was likely a function of the dude that attended to us and not representative of the overall)...space is cheerful and has a comfortable neighborhood vibe...will definitely try it again
We just celebrated 2 birthdays here and everything was delicious and perfect! The vibe here is cozy and inviting with friendly staff and fantastic food. The presentation is beautiful.
