They only sell tea now, the frick?
One of my favorite tea shops! Exceptional selection and quality, whilst still a reasonable price. Highly recommend you check it out!
Cute establishment with an assortment of teas and matcha powders. Was bummed to find out that it's only a retail store and no longer serving drinks.
Love this place! I ordered online and had it shipped to PA. It got here fast. Ordered hibiscus and green tea. Such high quality. I will be ordering from here again. Attached pic is the 2nd steeping of the hibiscus. Absolutely stunning color and pleasant aroma.
They did not make drinks when I went. November 2024.
Came here for some teaware & a cute tea pet. Was sad to see all tea pets were sold out. I ended up leaving with the Blue Chamomile tea. Everything was neat & orderly, I will be back for the tea. I would say the teaware is a bit overpriced & think I will be purchasing that somewhere else.
They no longer sell drinks and - the 2 stars is that that info doesn't seem super clear anywhere online so I walked in hoping for their raved about matcha latte and I just left with loose leaf tea. What I will say is their selection of teas is quite interesting and if you're into Asian tea varieties you can probably still find something of interest to purchase here. But I will have to remove them from my list of matcha shops because they quite literally no longer serve any sort of drink.
one of the best matcha places in San Diego. Beautiful place. I got to drink their matcha while they were still serving, hopefully it comes back. DELICIOUS
Cute store interior but be warned they are no longer serving drinks. Like, at all. So it’s not a cafe. It’s a store
I've been enjoying Paru tea since they were a pop-up at Quartyard in East village. Loved getting loose leaf tea in Point Loma too.
I've learned so much from the staff. Such incredible quality. And a great gift idea too!

Their matcha (I chose oat milk) is the best I’ve ever had!
I came here beginning of June 2023. I got both the Matcha Latte and the Hojicha Latte. I really like their Hojicha Drink, it has a nice fragrant. Unfortunately, I read that they no longer serve drinks which is very unfortunate since I would have loved to come back to SD again for the Hojicha Matcha Latte.
PARU is the place to find high quality tea! They carry a wide range of tea types in all different flavor profiles, and as a big fan of bold flavor profiles for tea, there were more options than I had imagined to choose from! My favorite is definitely Dragonwood, which the owner had blended themselves for the lunar new year. It has such a unique flavor, which demonstrates the owner's creativity and keen eye for "new" teas.
The shop itself is very inviting and organized, making browsing very easy and convenient. The staff is also very kind and helped me pick out different teas that would cater to my liking. Overall, I really recommend trying out PARU!
As both a lover of tea and a supporter of small businesses, I have always been fond of PARU and their mission of sharing tea knowledge and quality garden-direct teas with their community. It always makes a difference in enjoying tea knowing that I am consuming the product that small families have taken the time and care to produce!
The employees in the store are very welcoming and are always happy to explain more about the teas that they offer. As for tea education such as preparing matcha or tasting different flavor profiles of loose leaf tea, they offer both private tea experiences and chawan experiences! This store is truly a gem and I recommend anyone who wants to get into tea to stop by the store (they also have an online store)!
THEY ARE NOT SERVING MATCHA OR ANY DRINKS ANYMORE This was my favorite Matcha place in San Diego and am very confused on why they stopped serving since it was a very popular place. Just wanted to make this post so that people don’t drive 40 minutes out of their way to come here just to be disappointed like I was. No hate at all just wish there would have been more notice.
