A couple of months ago my friends and I all went to visit La Jolla cove. However what I would come to find out then was they were all going to be an HOUR late. I needed to use the restroom so I went to the nearest place from where I parked. By sheer luck I stumbled upon Spiro's.

Knowing that I couldn't wait for them to eat lunch, I decided to try Mediterranean cuisine by myself for the first time. I asked the friendly cashier what was popular and she recommended the chicken gyro which is what I got. That gyro was gone in 10 seconds to say the least.

Additionally, the atmosphere was very welcoming with open doors, a very aesthetically pleasing design, and family pictures on display to show the history of the business I presume. They also had water with fruit and some kind of tea/coffee on the house!

After my friends finally made it to La Jolla I told them they had to try Spiro's.

Parking: If you go on the weekend attempting to find street parking is a nightmare. I probably looped La Jolla for 20 minutes before I gave up and paid for parking (fair warning it is pricey and costs $25 at the time of this post!)

So the food was good but the lady in there with the loud shrill voice was too much. She made the whole experience awful. There is no reason to be that loud and to look that loud that's why I come to LA Jolla to not be around weirdos

Order at the counter then sit down. Limited Seating inside but more outside with heat lamps. Good choices on the menu but they were out of a lot of food like kebabs & fries.we ordered the calamari and gyros platter which were good.

Leaving 4 stars bc less isn't productive. I love Avgolemono soup and have ordered it at least 5x here. Unfortunately, the last two orders were extremely overpowering on the salt and citrus. My stomach didn't feel great afterwards, and I had to discard the rest both times which was a huge bummer. I know this soup can be so delicious, so I’m hopeful that the kitchen might adjust the seasoning in the future. I love having a Greek restaurant nearby in La Jolla, and I truly wish you continued success. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!

If you like Greek cuisine, this is definitely a great place to try! Very affordable prices, and everything we tried tasted light and fresh. The service was very fast and friendly. Overall a really nice experience!

I was drawn to check this place out because it’s absolutely beautiful, and I loved the nostalgic Christmas music they were playing. It was lovely, relaxing, and I needed a place to get a bite and relax for a while. The menu was varied with multiple options, and not as expensive as I’d expect for downtown La Jolla. I got a bowl of Lentil soup. I took off one star because the soup was REALLY salty and the tzatziki sauce was not as good as I’ve had elsewhere. But I would definitely come back to try some other menu items. The lady behind the counter was absolutely lovely… friendly, warm and professional. She made me feel at home.

Wonderful service and ambience. Food -- Do not order steak kabobs or mac n cheese off happy hour menu. Poor quality. Steak was overcooked for "medium" request.

Food was definitely just reheated. Very mediocre meal, might as well have gone to the local kabob shop. The taste was just off in the soup,, do rice was super dry, and the salad was wilted/soft. Atmosphere looked nice but was weird and not warm/welcoming. Would not return.

Filet kabobs were too salty!
Sorry Spiro's, I've had better and at half the price.
Won't eat there again.
My plate was 27 dollars and I was sick at home through the night.
Stomach issues after dinner.
But I will say my daughter had the salmon and loved it!!

Excellent food, especially the soups and dolmodakia. Incredibly friendly, personable, and kind staff that were so kind and even brought out water and treats for our 5 month old puppy. Hope to return soon. -San Diego

Our hostess Leah (or Leia) was super accomodating and helped these first timers who stumbled upon this amazing place. We loved the hummus, tzatziki, falafel and the pitas are fresh.. complemented with great ambience.. it's a fun place to take friends to and have a drink on the outside couches. Thanks again!
