I’m delivering for Uber Eats and was told it would be a 20-minute wait. I asked to use the restroom while waiting, but they refused, saying it’s only for customers—which feels unfair, considering I’m helping serve their customers.
Excellent locally wild caught seafood 😋
tomoko was super nice! she patiently cooperated with our party of 5, she deserves a raise.
Nice sushi restaurant in La Jolla with a large outdoor patio infront and a few tables inside. It was a cold day and we requested to be seated inside.
Glad we did because it was fun to see the sushi chefs and staff at work. Everyone seemed happy working there and our waitress was very nice.
I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and really liked it. Nice and light tempura batter too. My friend ordered other specialty sushi rolls. They were all beautiful but I forgot to take pictures!
We ordered the shishito peppers appetizers. It came in a very flavorful sauce. The garlic edamame was also good.
Parking was a nightmare. It took me about 20 minutes to find parking 4 blocks away.
Loved this hidden gem at the heart of La Jolla. It's been a long time since I had such good sushi! Really enjoyed a fun dinner here. They are also very kid friendly.
We tried the Mackerel nigiri, Salmon Aburi, Yellexico, and The Dunkan. They were all incredibly delicious. The miso soup was also really good.
Highly recommended!
Excellent Sushi, friendly since.
Don’t be FOOLED!! Was good when they first opened, hence the decent overall rating. Since adding the huge deck and abundance of tables. You can seated, but the service is terrible. They make ZERO effort to stage the sushi coming out. The last 2 visits, we get served our miso soup and then wait over 45 minutes to serve us an avocado roll and a veggie roll. The waitstaff doesn’t come near the table. The whole set up is terrible!!! Sorry, but NOT worth the wait and overall experience or lack of experience!!!
We stumbled across this place while at a conference in La Jolla. The gyoza and mandarin yellowtail sushi were so so but the duncan and aloha rolls were superb. The rolls are huge. Our server Stumoto was wonderful.
Nekosan is a must-visit for sushi lovers! Amazing vibe, incredibly fresh and delicious sushi, and top-notch service. Our waiter was super friendly. Don't miss out on this gem!
Service was horrible. Hostess looked like she was having worst day of her life, all waitresses were stressed out because they only had 1 chef, and food took forever to get to our table. Food was OK, edible, but not necessarily good. Hard pass on going back.
I did like the cat artwork in the bathroom.

Amazing sushi! Highly recommend the fancy roll and yellowtail carpaccio. Only negative is how long it takes to get the food. But it was worth the wait!
food presentation is really great. i also really like the vibe of the place
Wow food very good, very good tasting and high quality. Highly recommended.
