Good coffee, best ambience. Don’t miss it.
Over priced, understaffed Nightmare! Room had multiple issue's and never got fixed and it was a suite not just a regular room. Flagrant billing and terrible service at the pool and the restaurants were sub par at best.
We love the grounds, the Spanish California design of the buildings (probably a better name), the restaurants and bars, valet service, the room’s (refurbishment underway, but they’re still nice), and lastly the service levels from everyone. Oh, almost forgot, the pool area is also very enjoyable, and rarely overcrowded. We will be back.
I’m still in awe of this beautiful property! My husband and I stayed for one night in a newly renovated suite and WOW, we loved all of the details and updates. We walked the grounds when we first arrived and admired the apiary and all of the gardens before heading to our daybed by the pool. Max was awesome and served us some delicious cocktails while we lounged. We wanted to see/do as much as possible so after the pool we took another stroll and headed towards Torrey Pines Gliderport to check out the oceanside bluffs, the views are breathtaking and it was under a mile walk - definitely worth it. We didn’t want to leave the property so we had dinner at Mustangs and Burros - the live music was a pleasant surprise! The Tuna Tostada was my favorite appetizer, and of course I had to have churros for dessert. The art, the service, the landscape, the F&B, was all top tier, my one regret is not staying one more night.
The grounds and service are lovely. The service was great. BUT not worth the cost. The room rate was supposed to be around $300, the bill was $600 after undisclosed added surcharges. For example room service listed price for a cheeseburger was $23. After all the surcharges, it was nearly $40. We were in La Jolla for a medical test and had to stay overnight, so I wanted a place that would be relaxing and not a high rise like what else was in the area. The room was just remodeled, but not well thought out. We needed to keep the light on in the bathroom so my husband would easily get there without falling. The door was a noisy sliding door, so we had to leave it open. The toilet was separate, but the light was connected to the shower light and that light kept the sleeping area was not dark and not good for sleep. I could say more...even if the room had been perfect, the overall price with all the high added on service fees made it not worth it.
We usually come visit here a couple of times a year, but now that the hotel is under construction and new management, our experience this time was different. Unfortunately, we experienced very long wait times during our stay, and the hotel was understaffed. However, the biggest highlights of our weekend were being served by Henry N. at the Mustangs & Burros restaurant and help from the front desk by Cameron. Both employees were exceptional at their job.
For the first 24 hours of our weekend stay at the Estancia we did not have a working shower. The handle was broken so we were unable to turn the water on. We were part of a wedding party and had to shower in another guests hotel room the morning of the wedding. The rating here mostly reflects managment's failure to address the complaint. It's been two months and I have yet to receive a response.
We went to the spa on Monday for their power hour special. It was a lovely day! It started off with an awesome massage by Tracy and ended with a tasty lunch at the green finch restaurant. Food was delicious and Karina was very welcoming. Great overall experience.
The property was new renovated and very nice. We didn’t notice any signs that they were continuing to renovate. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The self park was full when we got there so they offered valet at the same price. Would definitely stay here again.
Estancia and their staff are one of the best! Great customer service and stay. Will definitely come back again. We stayed at the hotel for a business meeting and the entire staff were friendly. Their food is amazing and the hotel amenities are very clean and beautiful. Highly recommend!

We have stayed at the Estancia La Jolla hotel many times. We initially chose it because our son went to UCSD, which is across the street. Even though he graduated several years ago, we still love the hotel and the location. It’s always a beautiful property in great shape. There’s always a sense of peacefulness when we arrive, the rooms are always perfectly appointed and spotless! All of the staff are very friendly and accommodating, as well. We will visit there again!
