The Farmer's Table in La Mesa is one of our favorites, and a go-to for dinners with friends. They are dog friendly, and when the weather is nicer, we bring ours and sit on the patio. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We recommend their pizzas, and the pappardelli with braised beef cheeks. Serving sizes are generous, and the food is invariably delicious.
The service was scarce. Had to go and ask to be waited on. The waiter who did finally take our order said he was not our server but would take our order. Food came in another 20 minutes. Fish in the tacos were dry and chewy and the carnitas was very dry. When I mentioned this to the server his response was “well they were discounted” meaning they were on the happy hour menu. Our Christmas dinner was wonderful. Our waiter, Ulisch, took very good care of us, allowing us to eat at our own pace and was excellent in every way! The lobster bisque was delicious and served hot. The short rib and the lamb rack were perfectly cooked. We are so glad to have Farmer's Table in East County!
