We love this place! We get food from here once a week, and drive a mile to eat at Lake Murray. It’s the perfect Thai takeout establishment really: The food is consistently excellent and they always get our order right. It’s usually ready in mins, except on Friday night when they’re really busy. They do have a few tables for dining in, but it’s a small place.

Hug Thai has fast and friendly service coupled with excellent food that is always consistent. If you have a favorite choice you’ll get the same taste and quality next time, although I would suggest trying other items on the menu. As for the atmosphere, I’ve always done take out and never eaten in because the space is limited, but I don’t go to Hug Thai for the atmosphere, I go for the service and quality of the food.

I’ve been coming to Hug Thai since they first opened, and it’s hands down one of my favorite Thai spots in San Diego. Their green curry is my absolute go to so flavorful and comforting, especially for takeout. I own a business nearby and always recommend them to my clients. Love having such a great local spot in the neighborhood!

UPDATE: They made me a new order the way it had always been, like chewy, meaty pork jerky and it was delicious. Thank you for coming through and making it right for your loyal customer!
Pains me to write this, but after coming here since they’ve opened, I’ve always had great food & service. However, the last two times I’ve ordered the pork jerky to go, it was full of gooey, gelatinous fat. The time before last it was 90+% fat, so I called before to politely tell them and ask that it wouldn’t happened again. Whomever answered said “OK”…. When I got home, it was about 70% fat this time, so I’m really disappointed. I’ve been getting this for years and it’s always been very lean, chewy & tasty.

New to the neighborhood and finding our weekly Thai food place is a big deal! Tried two other local spots and the third one (Hug Thai) was the charm. We have now gotten it four times, sampling a variety of dishes, and have been satisfied every time! The service is also kind and pleasant. Happy to have found our new spot!
