Mario's has an amazing breakfast burrito that is huge and delicious!

Ordered chilaquiles with green sauce. The chilaquiles themselves were not made with fried tortillas or even tortilla chips. I asked them why they chose such a strange thing to do a staple Mexican breakfast dish I was simply told it was the style here. I swear they just placed a tortilla on a plate tossed scrambled eggs on top and then drowned it in the blandest green salsa I’ve ever had.

I started going to Mario’s 40+ years ago. Knew Mario when he had the little kitchen on Center Street in La Mesa… then expanded to the old fishing tackle shop… and finally his move to La Mesa Blvd. Whether I picked up items on my way to a job site or being the ‘go to’ place for family & events… Mario’s has always been my favorite Mexican Restaurant! So many memories there!
Parking: Small private parking lot and street curb parking.

I really wanted to call this place my top favorite place for Mexican food. The over the top attention even though busy and the homey feel of the place. The dishes we tried was really short on seasonings painfully so and the hard taco was just that enedible ...shell. Will return allthough and try again as like said above such good service. Didn't have the heart to complain because of it and tipped over the top for it.

This place has so much potential, quiet, clean and in great area of La Mesa. Service could be a lot more attentive to guests, and the food seemed rushed a bit but took a while to get to table. Been here many times and the last 3 times were a bit of a let down.

I got fish tacos and they were burnt and tasted horrible. The server did bring me a replacement. The coleslaw looked dingy. The rice and bean were good, but that's pretty hard to mess up.
The fan above our table had weird electrical issues and flickered weirdly when we were there. Apparently the owner does his own electrical work and it may not be in his skill set to wire it up correctly. .

Not the best tasting . Taco shops have much better food. Service was very slow, but polite. We wanted to split the bill in half and initially we both got charge for the whole meal on our cards. And then they changed it when we figured it out. The drinks were less than tasty.

Ordered the tamale plate, but it wasn't the pork that I wanted. Some kind of mystery meat, or it had soured. They wouldn't give me credit for not finishing it. Next time I'll take my family to Murietta's down the road. Mario's used to be our go to place.

Friendly, attentive service. Very good Mexican dishes, from tacos, menudo, to excellent shrimp dishes. Newly remodeled with additional outdoor seating. We've been a fan for years.

Patron since the 1970s. Owners Mario, Patty, and now present, ownerorecommto anyone who enjoys Mexican cuisine. Each owner surpasses their predecessor. My oltown family always request that we go to Marios during their stay. Friend of mine recommended Marios in the late 1970s when it was up in the commercial district and have never stopped going there. LA Vigdor
