The first thing you notice when walking up to Momentos Cafe is the smell—and wow, it smells *delicious*. It immediately makes you hungry and excited to check out the menu. The place itself is small and cozy. There are two tables outside; I’m not entirely sure if they belong to the café, but they’re not in the best shape. Still, the experience inside more than makes up for that.

The staff is truly amazing—friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The guy behind the counter even went out of his way to try to clean one of the outside tables for us, which we really appreciated.

The food was great. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados with both green and red salsa, and I have to say, both were very tasty in their own way. My mother ordered the tostadas de ceviche, and she was very happy with them. The portion size and flavor were definitely worth it.

One of the main reasons we came here was because we heard their Café de Olla was good. We’ve been on a mission to find the best Café de Olla ever since Chilaquiles in Otay Ranch closed down. Momentos Cafe came pretty close! Just a heads-up: they add milk or creamer to it, which may or may not be your thing.

Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I always come here on our date night. Food is amazing. Must try the Carne Asada fries or any fries. Especially the Mexican burger it is by far the most delicious burger we have ever eaten. I love the way that they were as great as take care of us hands-down the best Mexican restaurant in La Mesa.

I usually got the chicken tortilla soup or roll tacos. But this time I tried the torta. The momentos torta was soooo good!! So much filling in a warm toasted bread. It's so good!! They also have posole which I want to try next!!!

I came here looking to sit down and look at a menu but you have to order then take a seat and wait. Prices were not low so at least welcome someone and seat them. The guy at register took off to the back and that was enough for me to go and look elsewhere. It may be a good spot but I'm just looking for more of welcoming and waited on restaurant. Just thought I let everyone know.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. This is a restaurant that I like to frequent pretty often. There is a large parking lot because of the mall. The restaurant has seating inside and out. As well as takeout. I do recommend dinning in. Its a great place to eat and talk. The food is always fresh and delicious. Im a pescaterian and if you ask they are able to modify some dishes to have no meat.

I was disappointed by how soggy the chilaquiles were. They also coulda had more salsa which is interesting because although in my opinion they were lacking salsa, it’s the salsa that makes them soggy. Maybe I got an old batch? Because at the bottom of the green chilaquiles the tortilla chips almost looked grey. The shredded chicken had really good flavor and I enjoyed and cilantro, shredded purple onion, and a perfect amount of queso fresco and crema on top. I just wished I received a fresher batch, I can tell. It was also weird they included two serving of beans , why not rice instead?

Breakfast was so good! We got chilaquiles half red, half green, plus some sopes. The coffee had a yummy hint of cinnamon, and the service couldn’t have been better.
